Re: Admin password from gateway not working with app
Follow-up . . . The logic path after selecting "Connect" from the T-Life app is the choice for "My Gateway is already setup." The app asks for the Admin password (not the WiFi password) without explaining how to locate the Admin password which is stamped on the bottom label of the wireless gateway modem. The format of the Admin password is XXXX.XXXX.XXXX.XXXX. That is what has to be entered in the password field on the T-Life app. You would think the T-Mobile IT people would be smart enough to know T-Mobile WIFI customers who have the gateway already set up forget about the Admin password or even where it can be found. The T-Life app simply needs to add the text ("Admin password is found on the bottom label of the gateway device") so existing gateway customers can make a smooth transition from the T-Mobile Internet app to the T-Life app. Once again, the T-Mobile Community has to troubleshoot simple problems the T-Mobile IT "professionals" can't do for themselves because they are too lazy to do it!40Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Admin password from gateway not working with app
6/8/2024 Rbeers offers a "solution" to the T-Life app gateway password problem that is not acceptable to me. The problem is with the T-Life programmers (like so many other corporate IT people) who are too lazy and incompetent to fix their problem so they expect the "community" to do their work for them. I am not changing my gateway password due to the fact that I have a number of devices that use the T-Mobile wireless gateway along with local network users. The old T-Mobile Internet app is separate from the T-Life app and has no bearing on the gateway password problem. The T-Life app is the problem and IT support needs to fix it.66Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Experiencing Network Issues with the Latest T-Mobile Update - Anyone Else?
5/16/2024 I live in western NY and for the last couple of weeks I have noticed a drop in Internet speed below 60 Mbps. This is most noticeable when I'm streaming a baseball game via the MLB.TV service on my laptop while browsing articles on my Android phone. The baseball game will "drop out" of the live stream and I have to continually turn it back on again. Does anyone know if T-Mobile is throttling service or implemented hardware/software changes that would affect throughput?26Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Why are we being penailzed for paying with a credit card?
07/14/2023 Okay, I just finished a phone call with a T-Mobile CSR and she confirmed that T-Mobile will accept EFT payments from a customer's bank to T-Mobile's bank (i.e. "Bill Pay") and the Auto Pay discount will still apply! So my bank account information is protected, T-Mobile doesn't incur a fee to receive the EFT payment and the Auto Pay discount is still in effect. Everybody wins! Whew!23Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Why are we being penailzed for paying with a credit card?
7/13/2023 I have the same concerns as my fellow T-Mobile customers regarding the restrictions on using Auto Pay payment options. Like many of us, I called a T-Mobile CSR (Customer Service Representative) to complain. The response was, "Credit Card fees are costing T-Mobile too much money in processing fees, so the decision was made to allow only debit card or direct bank account withdrawal. There is nothing I can do about it." Here is a website that explains credit card fees: See: https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/small-business/credit-card-processing-fees According to the above website, it would cost T-Mobile between $1.50 - $3.50 for one $100.00 transaction, depending upon the credit card company. The fees are also a business expense that T-Mobile can deduct from taxes owed. Some banks also charge to use a debit card, which we as individuals cannot write off on our income tax due. I can't believe that merchants like T-Mobile don't band together and petition the U.S. Government to demand lower fees from these banks but it's easier to pass the cost onto the consumer. I have an account with a credit union that allows customers to electronically send a payment from my account to a merchant. This means T-Mobile does not have direct access to the account but receives the payment when I initiate the transaction. I'm going to contact T-Mobile and see if they are agreeable to that.10Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: 04/14/2023 - Internet Service Throttle Downed to 5 - 10 Mbps
pphw, That was a helpful suggestion and because I'm a curious person by nature, I started the T-Mobile Internet app to check out what you wrote. I went to the MORE option at the bottom of the right side of the main display and selected, "Advanced cellular metrics." It displayed two options, "LTE" and "5G". Under LTE, I scrolled down to the bottom and found BAND, which is the frequency range used by the cellular network. it displayed "B2". B2 operates at 1900 MHz. Under the 5G BAND, it displayed "N41". The n41 frequency speed band is 2.5 GHz. (I wrote that correctly, 2.5 GHz, not 2.4 GHz). The n71 frequency speed band is 600 MHz. However there is nothing I can do from my end when the network throttles down. All I can do is call customer service and make an inquiry. Thanks again for you suggestion; it helped me to better understand the T-Mobile network. P.S. This is off-topic but I need to find an electrical engineer who can answer a basic question about Smart Meters. Do you know of a IEEE community forum that I can get an answer to my question?19Visto0likes0Comentarios04/14/2023 - Internet Service Throttle Downed to 5 - 10 Mbps
04/15/2023 My Internet speed in my location (Monroe County, NY) is normally around 80+ Mbps. Late last evening (04/14/2023) the speed inexplicably dropped to 5 - 10 Mbps, which made web browsing unusable. i had to move the gateway device to another room in my house to get the speed back up to around 40 - 50 Mbps. T-Mobile technical/operational support must have tweaked something on their end because nothing changed on my end. Today (04/15/2023) the speed is back to normal. Did anyone else in my location experience the same phenomenon?Solved824Visto0likes4ComentariosRe: T-Mobile Internet Gateway Backward Compatibility
bocaboy2591, Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question. The Hidden switch you spoke of was already disabled so that wasn't the problem. As it turns out, I needed to find the latest driver for the wireless adapter as the manufacturer (intel) dropped support at the end of last year and they didn't provide a download site to at least see what the latest driver version is before ending support. Luckily, I went to the intel community forum and found a retired gentlemen who had in his personal possession (One Drive) the latest driver for it. I installed it and now I can connect to the T-Mobile 5G network. Thank you again for your time!31Visto0likes0ComentariosT-Mobile Internet Gateway Backward Compatibility
March 11, 2023 Hello T-Mobile Community! I am currently a customer of Spectrum Internet-5G service and will be replacing it with the T-Mobile Gateway. My laptop wireless network adapter RF (Radio Frequency) is rated 802.11b/g/n/a and obviously I can connect to Spectrum's 5G network as well as their 2.4GHz network. I have hooked up the Arcadyan Gateway router and unfortunately I am unable to "see" either of the two wireless SSID names (2.4GHz and 5G) that I set up with the T-Mobile cellphone application. However I am able to connect to the T-Mobile Gateway using an Ethernet cable. So I'm guessing there is a backward compatibility issue between the Gateway and my wireless network adapter. The Arcadyan Gateway technical specifications are: 5G NR: n25, n41, n66, n71 4G LTE: B2, B4, B5, B12, B41, B46 (for RX only), B66, B71 Does anyone know what I can do to correct this problem other than purchasing a USB wireless network adapter plug-in device that has the latest supported WiFi RF ? Thank you in advance323Visto0likes2Comentarios
