WPA key

I'm having trouble connecting a device to the internet because it requires a WPA key and there dosen't appear to be one available on the modem.

  • The admin and default WiFi passwords are on the bottom of the gateway.

Is it an old device? Some of these can't work with WPA2 or WPA3 but do work with WPA. The Nokia GW by default is set for WPA2/WPA3 but can be changed to WPA/WPA2.

  • If the device's network adapter is older and only supports WPA authentication type you need to add that type to the frequency which it can and will try to connect upon. The gateways seem to be configured to have WPA2/WPA3 authentication type for improved security. Older devices may only use WPA authentication type. If your search for the wireless network reports the network name (SSID) you need to connect to and that network does not have WPA authentication type you need to login to the gateway administrative interface and make sure WPA is available. If the configured authentication type is WPA2/WPA3 and no WPA then change it to WPA/WPA2 then save that change and try connecting the client again. If that is not working more information is needed to determine what that network adapter is capable of to provide more suggestions.

What is the eel/spa key for my T-Mobile Wi-Fi? Is it the admin password or the Wi-Fi password?

  • The gateway wireless authentication key. If the default passkey for the local wireless network is not changed you should see that on the label on the unit. After using that to connect to the gateway wireless network or using an Ethernet cable you can login as admin using the mobile application and configure your personal security. It is best to not use the defaults to be more secure.

  • The Nokia gateway allows web management but the newer T-Mobile gateway requires the use of the mobile application for managing the settings. The Arcadyan and Sagemcon both require the use of the mobile app for management.
