has anyone else been scammed by T-Mobile?
Hello, fellow T-Mobile customers. I am merely writing this with the hope that someone at T-Mobile will read it and FINALLY, after SEVEN months of headaches, fix and properly bill me.
In December of 2022 I turned in my iPhone XR in exchange for the iPhone 14 and added a line because T-Mobile was running an $800 off the new phone promo. I handed my phone over to an associate in the store. Well, we are coming up on July 2023 and every month I have to waste my time fighting to have my bill corrected because every month T-Mobile does not apply the promo (bill credits.)
Every month whomever helps me promises that they have updated and fixed the error, but the next month it is the same old story. At some point I was told that they never received my trade-in, which is absurd because it was not lost in the mail or something. I handed it over in the store! So, did the associate pocket my trade-in?? I was told they would investigate and follow up with me. I never received a follow-up, and then I was incorrectly billed again.
Nobody at T-Mobile will provide a point of contact, someone who I can communicate with so that I do not have to spend an hour+ every month explaining the problem again with someone new. It is terrible service. I have been more than patient. This is ridiculous.
I would NEVER ever ever recommend T-Mobile to anyone based on this experience. I feel stuck because if I cancel my service with T-Mobile then they will say that I still owe the balance of the iPhone 14. I am happy to pay the small amount that I might actually owe at this point, but they might say I am working off the full cost of a new phone, vs the $300 that it should be because of the promo.
T-Mobile, please fix my account! Please bill me properly! At this point I feel that you have stolen my iPhone XR and are ripping me off/trying to steal more from me by not honoring the promo.

Crooked from top to bottom. All aspects of the company.
sales - lies upon lies
They learn the ropes from management.
Lucky enough to witness first hand.
cust service is a joke. Countless hours spent on phone and text. They all feel your pain. They promise they corrected the problem. Following bill comes and right back at it again.
Try the supervisors 😂😂😂😂
Lying scam artists from all aspects
I'm 9-10 months in and still getting screwed. Each time a cust service rep gets involved you'll continue to get screwed. False promises.
in a nutshell- my services were shut off 2 months into my new phone and plan. I went from $90 some a month to owing almost 700found out I was paying for 4 lines 3 phones, tracking devices, some kind of graphic arts thing, service plans on all phones
I merely wanted to upgrade my phone. Went from one phone one line with ins plan to the same thing only upgraded the phone. " payment will go up $12 a month"
great!
forced to pay those outrageous charges for devices I didn't have. Services I didn't have. Very first phone call service rep found all the problems. Told me all was taken care of. Agreed T-Mobile in the wrong. Following bill? Same - Cynically_SaneRoaming Rookie

Yes I have been. The stores operate separately from the online and phone support. T Mobile has been sued for certain sales practices. The coverage map here does not coincide with its actual range. I've had to call at 20 times about my bill. Never received rebates I was promised. All calls are to foreign call centers that have poor communication skills. There's no approachable management. Even terminating my service didn't phase them. I was so hopeful. This weekend alone I wasted two hrs on hold and having to repeatedly explain my issue.
This thread should tell you all you need to know. Not any attempt to reconcile customer's issues. It's the new state of tech. They're not beholden to anyone.
hard to do when the site itself is primarily peer to peer assistance..
Their site is *suppose* to be peer to peer assistance but first you have to actually be able to login to your account, which in my case is very rarely the case. On what planet are these types of businesses practices allowed to be happening? If you do a quick online search regarding logging into your account you will see that this insanity has been going on for eight years plus. T Mobile is straight up abusing their customers and allowing their employees to rob us blind - after lying to us just to meet some metrics set in place by the suits. There's a special place in hell for them.

It's March 2024 and I signed up with T-Mobile about 5 months ago and it's been a battle ever since the 1st bill. Was promised my bill would be around $145 a month and it has never been close. I've called customer service every month, sometimes multiple times, and they would always tell more lies. Like be credited next billing cycle, which never happens and sometimes they are just really rude. This company is nothing but a scam. So many people all complaining about the same problems. I think small claims court is the next route.

Yes, I was scammed too.
I was upgrading my phone online.
The promo was up to $1,000 trade in. I chose a phone for $699.
The credit would be processed in 1 to 2 billing periods.
The next step asked if I wanted to finance over 24 months, or pay in a lump sum. No disclaimer or information with this choice.
I chose to pay in full.
I returned my old phone and was notified that I get no promo because I paid in full. I had to choose the 24 month billings. This was not stated when I was purchasing my device. SCAM.
I am now stuck and out $699 because the "buyers remorse" time had expired. They didn't contact me until after the buyers remorse time had passed. I wonder if they chose this timing so I wouldn't have any options.

Yes I recently switched to a new military plan which was supposed to be $10 a month cheaper than the one I previously had. They also told me that we could get a new phone at $800 off without a trade in. Well he put me on the higher military plan which was $80 higher than the one I had oh and no promotion on the phone at all. Customer care was helpful and fixed me to the correct plan but she couldn't do anything at all about my phone. My husband said we are switching carriers after this.

I ALSO was scammed.
I paid off the balanced of $458.00 on my Iphone 14 Pro because I wanted to unlock it and take it overseas. At the time I paid balance I had 21 monthly credits of $12.92. So they owe me $271.32. They promised to issue the credit in my next bill if I pay the outstanding balance.
I tried many phone calls and many chats, and I always get a new representative, who knows nothing. I always have to start explaining my case from zero. This new representative conducts a lot research and at the end after wasting a lot more time, they come back and give me a new excuse and false promise.
I think they want to wear me out, so I give up!

Yes I was scammed by T-Mobile chat employee. I was checking on an offer for 4 free iPhone 15 and 4 lines for $100 per month. Was told I didn't qualify for that promotion but I could get new IPhone 15s for one half off and keep my current plan $55/mo for 2 lines
I accepted the offer and paid the tax.
when I got my bill it was only $415 off one phone and major jump in plan cost.
i have screen shots of the offer but now they won't honor it. Have called and tried to talk with someone only to be promised they would take it to higher level and call me back. Never happened! Im sure the person that made the offer was on commission and I got screwed.
will be taking my business elsewhere

Hello! I am another victim of these scammers known as t mobile. On August 11th 2023 (z flip 5 release date), I went to the t mobile store in Dedham, MA and spoke with a woman who previously told me about this promotion, and all I had to do was upgrade to the 5g go plan and I could trade my Samsung galaxy s 21 ultra toward the cost of the new z flip 5. I don't remember her name as I lost her card (it begins with a "Y"), but I did report her eventually. Which I'm sure nothing has been done about as scamming people like us is her job.
I upgraded the plan and traded in my s 21 ultra. I was told that it would cover $800 towards the cost of the z flip 5. I paid the 200 dollar difference out of pocket. Got a watch and earbuds too. I CONFIRMED with this woman what the EXACT cost of my bill would be. She said about $150. So I left, satisfied.
The next month I'm charged $180. I check my bill and it shows a financing charge for the phone. What takes place over the next several months involves me calling their customer service line, telling them the same situation about me being charged for a phoke I already paid for (and explaining the trade in promotion), then telling me the same garbage ("oh the promotion didn't apply, let me apply it manually......oh for some reason the promotion can't apply...let me just discount your bill"). Over and over until January or February of this year, where someone finally admitted that the store screwed up and my z flip 5 did not qualify for the promotion. So I was essentially sold a lie. This guy said he would have to manually discount my bill for the remainder of the financing period (which I think was until the end of this year). I confirmed my bill amount. He said $150. I thanked him and hung up, again happy for a resolution.
This discount was applied for 2 months and then stopped. I called back in May because my bill was once again $180. So I thought that maybe the guy was either on vacation or forgot this month. I got this air head who told me they could no longer apply the discount. At this point I'm furious because why am I being charged for a phone I already paid for?! I go back and forth with her, as she attempted to twist my words and mention stupid meaningless information not related to what happened to me specifically. Eventually a manager takes over and I spend the next 10 minutes listening to this a-hole attempt to tell me about the diminished value of the phone that I traded in, which has nothing to do with the fact that the woman in the store told me that my phone that I traded in covered 800 dollars toward phone and I paid the 200 dollar difference out of pocket. This POS even tried to gaslight me and tell me that I didn't actually pay for the phone! If I didn't pay for the phone then why am I missing 200 dollars and my samsung galaxy s 21 ultra! I get him to admit that they are making me pay for their mistakes. I curse him and hang up. I do not apologize for my behavior because they literally lied and stole from me. So now i have given them a phone and 200 dollars, and I still have to pay a financing charge for a phone THEY told me I had already paid for.
Screw them. It's crazy that I'm not the only victim of this. I would think that this would be grounds for a class action lawsuit, but I don't know anything about legal matters. I just that this feels super illegal. I could call the store and try and get my phone back, but im sure they would just play stupid. I'm working on switching to Verizon, and t mobile can take their overpriced bill and shove it!

T-Mobile has scammed me too. This March 2024, I handed my newer Samsung Galaxy S22 and my wife's iPhone XR for basically a direct swap with only required difference of $400, which my wife insisted we should pay upfront. Come to find out later that they scammed me. Monthly bills never showed a credit from those phones I handed to the store. I was supposedly being signed up under their First Responder discount, but that was a scam too. First few months, they kept on telling me that the promotions would apply after few billing cycles. Now, 4 months later, Still no credits on my devises and still no promotions applied. I am paying an average of $70 more a month that I actually signed up for, plus my two devices, and the huge down payment I made at the store. T-Mobile has found a new way of scamming people. I am looking into getting our local TV's Investigative reporters like gephart involved. They should be held responsible for these crimes.
