Curious SpeedTest Results

Happy New Year All!

I just switched to T-Mobile Home Internet. So far, everything is going well, with one curious problem. I have my cell phone and PC connected to the gateway via WIFI. When I run the speed test on my cell phone, I typically get very fast download speeds (700 Mbps). When I run the same test on my PC, I get much slower results (around 60 Mbps download). Any ideas on why the discrepancy? ¡Gracias!

    Hola Roger,

That was it! I created a new WiFi network (5 GHz only) and connected the PC. Now I am getting the same fast speeds on the PC as the phone. Many thanks!

One follow-up - Does anyone know how to delete an extra WiFi network via the app? The app has the option to create one but not to delete one. Thanks again.

  • Your WiFi is likely set up with both a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band using the same SSID.  Your devices auto-connect to whatever band the want based on signal strength.  You PC is likely connecting to the 2.4 GHz band while your phones are likely connecting to the much faster 5 GHz band.

In the TM Internet app, if you go to the specific network you want to delete, you will see a "delete this network" button at the bottom.  (the T-life app should have something similar, but I don't use it).
