Wow! That is like a standard option on all routers and internet gateways since the early 90's … I am curious why Tmobile choose not include this option so that consumers have the ability use the DNS of their own choosing on the Tmobile Internet Gateway?  Seems like a fairly obvious miss from a product perspective … VERY odd wouldn't you agree?

Yes and no. Yes, for the fact there are no basic router options in the current firmware. No in that I personally don't want to use my internet provider's gateway as my router since I want the flexibility to change providers as often as I see fit without have to go through setup every time. In fact most 3rd party routers these days allow you to export your settings so you can upgrade to a new model and import those settings in one step.

Personally, I wish TMO would just add the following which can only be done on their gateway:

• Bridge mode - this disables DHCP on the gateway so I only ave DHCP on my router.
• Band locking - once I find a primary and secondary band that works the best for me, I want to lock those rather than the gateway randomly changing it.
• Public IP geolocation - This is probably a major effort but TMO needs to figure out a way to match the gateway IP to within the geolocation of the physical gateway. Right now your geolocation may be 100+ miles from your physical location which is causing problems with apps/websites that rely on IP based geolocation.

If I think even more extreme, I would rather TMO offer a gateway with no router so the hardware can come with better antennae and possibly weather proofing that allows the gateway to be mounted outside. In short - TMO should focus on cell reception and bandwidth instead of router features.
