Possible causes of frequent Wi-Fi loss.

TomR1945,
If the SIM card has scratches on the contact face that might not be a big problem but maybe the question is now did it get those and could there be other problems with the SIM card? The contacts are only part of the SIM as it also has an IC, integrated circuit. There are also connections. The SIM stores critical identifier information and provides authentication of the user identity and services. If the SIM has some micro fractures in the IC then it could be the proper credential handling is failing from time to time and the heat may have a bearing on the behavior.
My recommendation is to contact T-Mobile support OR if there is a local T-Mobile store that also handles the home internet gateways go into the store, explain the behavior you have seen and request a replacement SIM card and possibly a gateway if the SIM replacement is done and things are not improved. I do not recommend doing both at once. The more things that change at the same time it introduces the possibility of new unexpected behaviors. Take it one step at a time. They should have no problem providing you with a replacement SIM card. If you received the original Nokia gateway with the SIM installed then it could have been damaged from the beginning.
People seem to enjoy trashing the Nokia can. Well maybe some of them have been but not all of them. My Nokia gateway is a good little can. It has been very reliable since early January 2021 and still rolling along. I can manage it with the browser and that is important to me. My best download test was 406 mbps down and 70 mbps upload. It is a respectable little can. Long live the can!
I hope the SIM is the source of the disconnects as that would be an easy fix. I have seen some conversations about the SIM tray not holding the SIM card in the Arcadyan gateway so you might reseat it as a first measure as that is simple and quick. Just power down the gateway and then insert it again. If you find it seems to be loose maybe a thin shim might help make the contacts mate firmer. It is just a few more thoughts.
