I live at the edge of T-mobile coverage on a hill. T-mobile provided me an LTE cell spot for years which worked fine with my Note 8 for the last 2.5 years. I bought my Note 20 ultra on September 6. Everything was fine for about a month. Then, as of last week, around October 11, I started having major issues with phone calls and texts. 1) inability to make phone calls from the cell network No matter how many times I try, calls don't go through. This happens when connected to the cell network. I dial the number and it just doesn't go through or terminate. The same happens if I redial, no matter how many times. If I enable Wifi calling, calls do go out, at least. However, there is frequently silence of 2-3 seconds that make it very difficult to have a conversation, especially when my air conditioner comes on. This is despite being less than 10ft from the wireless AC access point, and being connected at a Wifi rate of 866 Mbps, with the backend Internet connection being Comcast gigabit. 2) inability to send texts when connected to either LTE or Wifi network I use Signal with the confirmation on. Texts just hang forever when I send them. Recipients do not get them. Sometimes the texts will go out an hour later. Sometimes they result in an error. The behavior with receiving texts is similar. 3) as instructed by a t-mobile tech, after rebooting my phone, and being located 6ft from my cellspot, it shows 4G or 4G LTE signal, and an "X" next to it, ie. zero bars. I can't make any calls, send/receive any texts, or use any data. 4) a reset of all the network settings on the phone did not fix the problem. 5) t-mobile did a "refresh SIM" on their end. It did not fix the problems. 6) If I power off the cell spot, all the problems go away in my home office. This is what I did for the last week while waiting for a replacement cell spot. But I then have only 0.4 Mbps speed even on the 5G network. In other spots in my home, I have zero cell network signal at all. I am in a 4600 sq ft home. T-mobile send me a new replacement cellspot. I just got it yesterday. All the lights on it are green. Unfortunately, all the problems described above are also back on my phone once the cellspot is on. The cellspot is supposed to improve cell signal, but in fact completely kills it for me instead with my phone ! At this point, I'm completely stuck with using my Ooma voice over IP phone to make phone calls. Without it, I would be completely SOL with making calls. I cannot reliably send or receive texts, since Ooma doesn't offer that service. It is too late for me to return my Note 20 Ultra to the store. And I have already sold my Note 8. My husband also has a Note 20 ultra, bought from Costco the same day as mine, and isn't experiencing the same problems, though he is not home most of the time. It seems there is something wrong between my own Note 20 ultra and the cellspot. But I don't know what it could be. I'm really at my wits' end. Obviously I have been working with T-mobile techs on the phone on this, but they haven't been able to fix it. I posted my question to the Samsung forum as well at https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/galaxy-note20-note20-ultra-5g/major-network-issues-on-note-20-ultra-with-t-mobile-network-and/m-p/2178139#M4773 .Solved6.8KViews0likes12ComentariosCharged for a Cell Spot
Hey All, I recently transferred (closed) my account and moved it into my ex-wife's name. The rep I worked with on the phone helped me close account and pay the balance for my phone, etc. Now a few weeks later I get a bill for $314.65 for a supposed CellSpot non-return fee. To the best of my knowledge I never received or used a CellSpot device- and have zero record of any communications with TMobile about it! I have spent 4 hours on the phone -- (mostly on hold) in the last couple of weeks-- only to eventually be disconnected when I asked for the call to be escalated. I asked the reps numerous times if they could provide me with a description of the specific device I was sent, and any documentation of the standard replacement fee charge- and if they have any record of my ever receiving it, but they are adamant that their system doesn't have that information. So am I just supposed to pay this phantom charge for over $300?!?! Helpppp!3KViews1like8ComentariosDoes T-Mobile CellSpot work with Mint Mobile?
My neighborhood has T-Mobile coverage, but it is very poor. I am currently a Verizon customer who plans to switch to Mint Mobile, and I want to get a T-Mobile CellSpot I can connect to the LAN at my house. Can I expect my Mint Mobile service to be compatible with the T-Mobile CellSpot? Anyone have any knowledge or experience with this? Will it work?Solved3KViews0likes4ComentariosCellSpot v2 Update Email - How?
I got an email asking me to update my CellSpot: I have a CellSpot V2 SS2FII Femtocell Multi-Band SOHO, manufactured by Nokia. It is connected to my home internet. The light is blinking green, indicating LTE traffic going through it. If I turn it off, my LTE service vanishes. So I think it's working fine. The link in the email goes here: 4G LTE CellSpot setup & help Which says nothing about updating it. The femtocell version doesn't have a wifi network, so how am I supposed to update it? Thanks in advance.Solved1.1KViews0likes3ComentariosMy cellspot not connecting
Hi, I looked over the internet to see if there was something i was missing. I just upgraded to the v2 as the original cellspot stopped working 6 months ago ( just green power light nothing else) The new one started with green flashing power and amber flashing internet. I had originally setup through my archer ax21 router but after two days switched to plugging directly into the modem. (a tplink tc-7620) and plugging the router into the lan port. Now i have green flashing power and solid amber internet led. I called customer support and that was fruitless. After 20 minutes of telling the person on the phone that she doesnt have a script for my question she checked with her colleagues and told me that xfinity comcast doesn't block customers ports. ( Not entirely true as there are about a dozen ports they do block that started way back with the sasser worm iirc). I have tried various port scanners and the results are mixed but it seems to say that the ports are open but filtered? No explanation of that. I have cycled power a bunch of times and have tried resetting the cellspot a couple of times. Does tmobile have a port testing site that they recommend to see if i need to confront my ISP at a higher level? Gracias1KViews1like2ComentariosIs my neighbor's 4G LTE Cellspot degrading my service?
For reference I live in an apartment building which has acceptable T-Mobile service as I'vegone years without any issues living here. A new neighbor hasmoved in recently, and I noticed that I havebeen experiencingworse call qualityand more calls have beendropping. Our building has a very spotty internet provider with high ping and slow upload speeds. A few things lead me to believe that my new neighborshave installed a T-Mobile 4G LTE Cellspot. I'mfamiliar with the Cellspot because my parents live in a rural area and have one in their home.In the past myphone used to display 5G service regularly, nowinstead itdisplays LTE exclusively. When stepping outside about twenty yards away from the building my 5G service returns. I also receive better speeds when running a speed test outside away from my building. Inside of my building I barely reach 40mbs down and usually below5 mbs upload speed which is important for calls and video calls. Speed and the quality of calls has never been an issue before. But only recently becauseof this I'm needingto leave my hometo make calls. It's frustrating because like I said this is a recent issue and I can pin it to something that's making it worse. I use my T-Mobile service to get away from my terrible internetto begin with. I understand that there is no way to connect to the tower directly because the Cellspot is basically a small tower itself and the phone connects there by default. ¿Cuáles son mis opciones?1KViews1like8ComentariosHow secure is T-mobile's service? Is it encrypted?
How secure is T-mobile's service? Is packet sniffing or a man in the middle attack possible on the T-mobile network? I know that most ISPs have a good idea of what a user does on their network. You can typically just use a VPN to enable more anonymity online. But from the signal between a device and the cell tower i'm guessing there can be multiple security issues. Lets say I login to my T-mobile account or bank account. And someone has set up a repeater or fake signal that my phone connects to thinking its the T-mobile service. Would that person be able to see the data being transferred over the network. Or is the signal my phone sends out encrypted not allowing for this to happen. Devices like the 4G LTE Cellspot connects to a customers own router and allows them to broadcast a T-mobile signal using their home internet. Are people that own this device able to see data and traffic from my phone? They could possible configure their router maliciously to look at all traffic coming from a 4G LTE Cellspot device with unsuspecting T-mobile customer connecting to it thinking its connected directly to a cell tower. Another way this device can be abused is the person can limit their bandwidth to the device to unusable speeds but all phones around it will still connect to it because its the strongest T-mobile signal. This would degrade the service and make the T-mobile service around that device practically unusable. I swear I'm not paranoid. Just a student studying security and these questions came to mind. I am receiving notification from T-Mobile that they cannot confirm my CellSpot coverage address. I follow the procedure to confirm via text messaging, but there is no reply. I tried to confirm the correct address with my online account (it already is correct, nothing has changed), so nothing is there to allow me to confirm it. If I call 611, the people answering have no idea how to confirm my address. Any ideas how to do this - I am dependent upon my CellSpot because the coverage is so bad in our area in Florida. Thank you for your help.522Visto0likes3Comentarios4g LTE Cellspot
My cellspot is hissing (fan noise) and won't connect to anything. The power and the Internet are only flashing (green and yellow respectively). All the other lights are off. I have hit the reset button (maybe a little over an hour ago) but no go. Its been like this all weekend. I need the cellspot as I only get 1 bar in the house. Had this device since 2018 and its been flawless until now. Suggestions?129Visto0likes4ComentariosCellSpot personal
