42 Topicshow to reduce ping / latency with 5g home internet
hey! I just got the service and the download and upload speed are working great. unfortunately,I'm not about to game anymore because of the latency / ping. the ping on my speed test usually reads about 50-60ms but onceI'm in game it's around 120 and has a lot of lag. I was wondering if there's any way to reduce lag / latency? maybe connecting a high-speed gaming router? is that possible? does a 5ghz network help? thank you so much for any help!!!!64KViews4likes12ComentariosHome Internet Gaming Problem
I recently started testdriving T-Mobile home internet at my house, and it's worked great for everything except games, where I'm having a weird issue with some of them. When I try to play Apex Legends on PC, the game will connect and play really smooth for anywhere from 1-3minutes, and then all communication will be lost, which will take 20 seconds for the game to kick me out to the main menu. If I go back into the game from the main menu, it'll work fine untill the 1-3minutes elapses. During all of this my PC never loses connection, and this issue occurs over wifi and ethernet. This issue probably does not lie with the game as this issue does not occur with other ISPs, and it did not coincide with an update. A similar issue is happening with Splatoon 3 on the Nintendo Switch, where the game will play superb for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before dropping the connection. Is this a known issue with the service or gateway, is there anyway I can debug my connection, and does anyone know anyway that could possibly remedy the situation? I'd love to keep the home internet, but one of the main things I use the internet for is games, meaning this service wouldn't work for me.25KViews19likes97ComentariosGaming with T-mobile Internet Xbox series S/PC
Ever since I have used T-Mobile internet, my gaming has been mediocre at best as far as connection. My ping on Rocket league at times ranges from a standard 68-300+. I cannot even get into any games on Battlefield 2042, as it times out. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is frustrating because I can sometimes play (with terrible ping) but when I join a friend's party it kicks me out of the game. I even hosted the match and tried logging into a game, and we were both kicked. these are just a few of the issues I've noticed while gaming. there are times when the internet just goes out, I am on my second device. My connection to the network is great, but the internet connectivity drops more often than it should. Recently the tower near me was upgraded which helped for downloading, but competitive gaming is still a struggle? Is this something that will be fixed or will I need to switch over to a trusty Fiber connection. I like the price I am paying for T-Mobile, but at the end of the day, it's more of a hassle. I'm basically paying for something that I can't depend on. I have multiple games in my library that are now collecting dust because they barely function if they work at all when joining my friends online, thank you.Solved21KViews0likes7ComentariosNintendo Switch w/NOK 5G21 Gateway
I was thrilled to change from my previous provider to T-Mobile's internet. The speed is great. The service has been super reliable. Where I'm having trouble is on my Nintendo Switch. I can't getvisitors on my island on Animal Crossing. I can't race against friends on Mario Kart. Virtually all online gaming functionality is useless. And I'm frustrated I haven't been able to find a solution. I called support and they basically said there's nothing they can do. Has anyone found any solution to this?!16KViews6likes29ComentariosHome Internet Gaming
I have had Home Internet for about a year and I have been able to use it for both work and gaming. However, within the last few weeks, I received a "internet required to connect to servers" error when playing on GTA V, Red Dead Redemption, ARK or any other game with online features. I have changed gateways and even replaced one without any luck. I have already reached out to Sony and one of the game's helpdesks and they both state that it is an internet provider issue. T-Mobile doesn't have any support for gamers according to one of their reps so I am frustratingly out of options. Any additional help is greatly appreciated. I am looking for other internet providers in the meantime.9.3KViews1like16ComentariosMLB The Show does not work on my T-mobile 5g internet box.
MLB The Show does not work on my T-mobile 5g internet box. It will say "Challenge Failed" when trying to play an online match. The game works perfectly fine when i bring my xbox to my parents house. But when i bring it back to my wifi, it doesn't work. I test the NAT type until it's open, I reset the router, etc. I've done everything I can think of and there no solution. Does anyone have this same problem? This is the only game that won't work either. This and NBA 2k brought me some issues. But i can play COD or shooters on my wifi… but cross play sports games seem to bring the issue5.9KViews3likes21ComentariosPS5 internet connection issues

Obviously there is a limit to how good latency can be with a wireless signal like T-Mobile Home Internet is using, but I'm just wondering if it is expected to mature over time. I'm a big gamer and I've been tolerating the ping because my only other internet option has much better ping but a tiny fraction of the speed. Lately however, I don't know if it's the spring leaves coming back on the trees or what--it's been getting noticeably worse. It used to be a consistent 80ms in Overwatch, my favorite title, but now its more like 105-120ms with spikes to 300ms. It's making it very difficult and I'm questioning whether I can continue using the service. I have the white box router Model: RTL 0102. My signal is only "Good" but I haven't found any place in my house where it can be improved further.3.4KViews1like7Comentarios
