Why is the Home Internet Gateway functionality crippled?
I have ArcadyanKVD21, and while I am thoroughly impressed with the speeds from the device on the T-Mobile 5G network, I am disgusted by the lack of any ability to properly manage & (more importantly)secure thisdevice. This trade between speed and security is insulting and offensive to me as a technologically adeptSecurity professional, andexacerbatedby the fact thatT-Mobile continues to fail when tasked with protecting user account PII data. The inability to perform certain key functions completely disappoints me. Below are the primary issues and concerns,which *MUST* be resolved to keep me as a customer: Cannot perform setup /administrativetasks via wired interface. Current (internal)web interface only offers a "basic" informational portal. Cannot completely disable (turn off) WiFi, (likely due to the above). What (few) administrative tasks that are available, requires:download &installation of a worthless"mobile app", which also requires the device be connected to the local WiFi network. Current administrative functions are limited to 3 tasks,changingthe:administrative password, WiFi password, orname of the WiFi SSID. T-Mobile Internet app losesany/allfunctionalitybeyond the local network. If the gateway is connected to the internet, and the device with the app is as well, then there should be no valid reason to require "local" access, especially if the next point is true… As this prevents a parental/guardianauthority from managing the device while travelingoroutside the home (at work). T-Mobile app does not permit multiple instances of the app to be logged in with the same account/credentials. (per T-Mobile technical rep) What absolutely perplexes me is that many (if not all) of these points DID NOT EXIST when I reviewed an earlydevice around one (1)yearago… So why "cripple" the functionality?!?
How to change the Wifi and LAN IP subnet
I just got a Tmobile 5G Home hotspot and set it up. It's working but it's built in DHCP server is handing out a subnet of 192.168.12.x /24 on both the Wifi and LAN ports. I would like to change this, or at least change the Wifi. The built in wifi will be useless to me unless I can change this IP. I have a home internet distribution system, Cisco access points on all the floors that blow away the built in wifi this thing has. And I don't trust the security in this device to keep my networks secure. If anyone knows how to change the IP please let me know. Thanks, David
Android devices cannot connect to WiFi LTE Gateway
I have the original "white" Askey TM-RTL0102 It has worked fine for several years. Woke up this morning, and my Android devices (phones, tablet) can no longer access the internet through WiFi (they connect, but the connection says "No Internet"). Network map shows everything OK: Tried usual troubleshooting (disconnect, restart, etc). No luck. Note that my laptop can connect. Any suggestions? Thanks
Home Internet Gateway WiFi Channel
I have theT-Mobile Home Internet Gateway (aka 5G Gateway) based on the Sagemcom chipset. Model: Sagemcom FAST5688W Firmware:SGJi10205-1.2.B4 It keeps selecting the most congested WiFi channel in our condo, it's very strange. Can I use the "Nater-Tater" config file approach (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8s3ZhGYEl2I) to change the WiFi config, similar to the Arcadyan KVD21 that Nate uses? Thank you in advance.
New here! Here is your fix for connection issues and thermal throttling!
I have posted in some other threads on what to do to fix it. Please update your firmware by factory resetting it before attempting the below. But the firmware was just one part of the issue. It's the temps and wifi interference that's causing it all . Multiple YouTube vids proving my hypothesis. Here is the short version. 1.Buy a fan 120mm with usb-C connector from Amazon $15 that has pads on bottom. Also a can of PC parts duster. 2.Unplug modem. 3.Flip modem over and take screws out. 4.Take out sim. 5. Remove battery from modem(keep it just in case u need to send back). 6. Put back together and sim in it. Plug in. 7. Place on top of fan with air blowing through and out the top.Fan plugs into usb-C port. 8. Turn off internal wifi said and get an external Wi-Fi 6 mesh system. This is a process that takes a few minutes. There are like 12 SSIDs to turn off. Why they are all broadcasting by default is beyond me.(If you have multiple users it causes it to thermal throttle and the built in wifi router causes massive interference problems .) I suggest TpLink Deco, Tenda, or anything Netgear Nighthawk mesh. Google wifi eero(yuck) ECT. 9. Enjoy your internet worry free . Dust it once a week or so to keep it clean. I'm here to help anytime. Please reach out if you need help. I will be modding my 5G router for external antennas to get the most out of it but the above fixes 99% of users issues . Mesh network if you don't own one is about $80 to $300 depends on what you wanna spend . Fan is $15 Yes it will take some time but the built in wifi router (not their great 5g modem inside) is just not great. It overheats with a load on it, as does the modem which thermal throttles. The above should remedy MOST people's issues and if it still doesn't work, replace the battery, and send it back ! Hope this helps y'all! turn off wifi radio on Sagemcom Fast 5688W Gateway
How do you turn off wifi radio on this modem ? on mobile app when i hit delete network get error cannot delete only network. I have Ubiquiti AP and dream machine to distribute WIFI and just need this to be a modem. Called support they put me on hold and then hung up.. ANy ideas ?
Ethernet not talking to Wifi on Nokia 5G21 Gateway
I have aNokia 5G21 Gateway with an ethernet connection that feeds a switch in my home office. All other devices (phones, laptops, wireless printer) are connected via wifi. The gateway shows 6 devices connected via wifi, and 3 via ethernet -- that is the correct number of devices. All devices have internet, I can connect to the web interface at http://192.168.12.1from any device, but the wifi devices cannot ping devices on ethernet or vice versa. This had been working until recently. This happened one other time, rebooting the router fixed the issue then, but didn't work this time. Any suggestions on how to keep this up and stable are appreciated.
Incorrect password every morning
Just started a 3g home internet trial, and have been using the Arcadyn router for 3 days. Every morning my Samsung phone, which was connected OK to the router, reports the WiFi password is incorrect. This is most certainly not true, as typing the same password reconnects OK. I've not experienced this specific issue before, on any router or phone pair. Is this a known bug or compatibility issue with Samsung phones?
