what's up with T-mobile removing autopay discount for credit cards?
I just literally signed up for a new plan - debit cards have fees for providers too - accessing my bank account isn’t a good approach from a security perspective (noting that T-mobile has been hacked - i wouldn’t have shared this directly with T-mobile customer service but there is not email or chat and I don’t have time for phone calls

That was announced months ago. It is because credit card companies charge a service charge that is based on the percentage of every transaction, which eats into T-Mobile's revenue. Removing the auto pay discount for credit cards negates that.

I've been a T-Mobile customer for many years and am not happy with this change. When combined with the obvious deteriorating customer service, poor signal in my area, and history of data breaches, this is incentive enough to switch away from T-Mobile. Very sad…

We are very much against this autopay change. We prefer using our credit card (mainly for security reasons) but are unhappy that we will now be paying an additional $15/month for intermittent cell phone service. (We have 3 lines.) We live in the foothills of LA, can see downtown LA from our home, but our phone drops calls every day. We keep getting messages that the phone is "searching" and when we attempt to make a call we often get "not on registered network." Many times we don't even get incoming calls and all the messages miraculously appear at the end of the day! It has been a struggle dealing with T-Mobile and we have spent (and continue to spend) hours with them over the poor reception. We were first customers with Sprint and have had Sprint/T-Mobile for over 20 years. At least Sprint had provided us with a booster that helped somewhat but we do not have that option with T-Mobile.

From gas stations to restaurants I have been given discounts for walking in and paying cash, those business' want your business,T-Mobile does not want your business.

There is no benefit to the consumer to use a debit card or a bank account and better yet adds risk at the expense of the consumer. For auto-pay, Tmobile should find a better way to recoup those pennies on the dollar from CC transaction fees if thats indeed the reason behind this and not FEDNOW. How about TMobile negotiate with the major card issuers for this. This would make a lot more sense then passing the burden off to your customer base to force someone to use Bank information or a Debit card. With all the latest T-mobile growth, this is the BIGGEST MISSTEP and not the mention the easiest way to lose a long term Military customer (13+yrs with Tmobile)

5$ fee to walk in the store and do any business with them now as well. After 21 years I am gone, they will be lucky to receive my final payment by mail with multiple money orders from third world countries.Have fun trying to cash those T-Mobile hear they charge some outrageous fees!

If Im going to get charged for using a cc Im just going to drop autopay and let them issue me a paper bil every month. Tmobile is cheap. How they can expect me to supply a direct line to my bank acct is absurd.

I just got the message too. It's stupid. Especially since I use Apple Pay which gives me the additional 3% cashback on top of the $20 discount
And the credit card I pay with has phone insurance covering theft and accidental damage. As long as I pay the bill with it...
Tmobile best rethink this decision.
I'm in the same boat as you but my Tmobile plan pays my taxes. I don't think many other carriers do that.
Well, google fi has a plan that will work for me for $80+taxes of $8-$16 per month. That's a far cry from the $160 it will now cost on T-mobile.

You know that once Tmobile processes your check your bank account number will most likely be stored on Tmobile's servers.
I'd rather stay paying with a credit card.

Been with T Mobile since 2006 and this now foreign owned company has went downhill fast accelerating its speed to mediocrity and poor customer service after the Sprint merger. As many have said this is a money thing pure and simple, increase profits and ignore customer outcry and dissatisfaction.
Yah sure you betcha I am going to link my bank account to a company that has been hacked multiple times…..NOT! We got our ID stolen after T-Mobile was hacked in 2019 and it was a nightmare.
So if you want to make a point have them send you a bill via USPS monthly and pay the bill with a check - I know its not ideal for most of us that like the convenience of auto pay and /or electronic bill paying BUT if all or even half of T Mobile customers would do it even for two months it would cost them millions to send receive and process the payments!
We are starting next month please consider doing the same...

Yeah screw this. I have 4 lines and with younger users, the free phone insurance through my credit card was a God send. I've been a customer for 21 years but Verizon is offering a special right now that stacks with my military discount and makes my bill $25 cheaper than T-Mobile. Really hate switching after all this time, but they made their decision.
