Iphone 16 on us question
Does this promotion also cover the Go5G Next 55 plan, or would I need to be on the Go5G Next plan
- AddyCNewbie Caller
Will T mobile return to the advertised $1000 value bon the Go5g next 55plus? I called today to get the two free phone deal because I was told a couple months back that I should wait till the iPhone 16 came out to get this deal and also found out that the 55+ plan changed on October 4 but all the ads lead you to believe that we should qualify. No, the so-called free phones will cost me $400 cash to get the two free iPhone 16s.

There were leeked memos on October 1st that the changes were going into effect the 4th and unfortunately in the terms and conditions they can change promos any time.

Yes, apparently so. Interestingly, I had gone in to the TMobile Store on the store, but they didn't have any phones in stock, but he said not to worry that the promotion would be going on for a while. Anyway, it was an incredibly poor customer experience and, I think, deceptive to quietly roll it back for just a few of the GoNext plans. I went back to my old plan and would not recommend them to anyone at this point.

Actually, when I called to request clarification on that point few days ago, prior to switching to that plan (from Magenta 55+), I was told that I would qualify for $1000. That is also what the website said when I "compared Magenta 55+ to GoNext 55+). However, when I went to buy a phone last night, I saw that T-Mobile changed the promotion, but only as it relates to the 55+, Military and First Responder GoNext plans.
They definitely changed the promotion for those plans. this is based on several times checking the website as well as several phone calls with customer service.
The changes started Oct. 4th.

i have also reached out the the FTC and NY AG on this as I think it is very deceptive to change the broader program without having some sort of an explicit clarification that the change occurred. I am going to try to go back to my old plan at this point and will decide whether to move away from TMobile all together. This was incredibly deceptive and certainly not the right thing to do from a reputational perspective.

Not anymore! T-Mobile quietly reduced the promotion for this plan as well as the plans for First Responders and Military. I literally just switched to this plan (from Magenta 55+) to take advantage of the promotion only to find that I was bait and switched! It is unconscionable to me that T-Mobile would change their promotion just for these plans. I think it is a highly deceptive and discriminatory practice.
Just to clarify, the iPhone 16 Pro promotion is only for 5G Next plans regardless of 55+ or 1st responder discount. The iPhone 16 is included on all 5G Plus plans with different discounts for 1st responders based on other plans.
I'm not sure of the free phone since when I sign into the app it's says up to $1,000 of if I change plans.and now discounts are staggered depending on heavily discounted plans like the 55+ plan.
There's an article on it on TmoNews.
That's border line false advertising. I realize now that the plan details on the official Tmobile site only says "upgrade phone" and does not specify what makes or models are included. I suppose as long as it's at least one model later than your trade in, that is technically an "upgrade".
I would think that the most expensive plan “Next” would give you the latest upgrade full discount, but even there it does not specifically say you get the latest year model.
This is even more there reason to keep my current legacy plan and just buy directly from Apple.
