Home Internet speed Extreme fluctuations - from 800mbps to 10mbps

I have had home internet for 8 months now, and it worked flawlessly for the first 7 months. However, at the end of August, I started experiencing very slow speeds intermittently. For the past week, the slow speed has become the norm. None of my streaming services work, and I cannot do any video conferencing.

I have called technical support numerous times, but the issue remains unresolved. A new gateway hasn't solved the problem either. Initially, I was told that all the towers near me were fine. However, yesterday, I was informed that one of the three towers near my home might be having issues. When connected to that tower, the speed is slow, whereas the other two towers provide good speeds. This might be the reason for the fluctuation. Unfortunately, they don't know when it will be fixed.

Any help with this would be highly appreciated.

    Thanks for your insights.

It has become too bad now and with no resolution from T-Mobile, I am ditching T-Mobile internet and go with Verizon FIOS.

Might be the "deproritization' - if its typically 'same time of day' type issue.  This will also depend on what is an issue, and how close/far the towers are.  Eg.   I have 5 'near' me.

1 - 1200' away, maxes out at just over 700Mbps, but is typically closer to 400-550 range, with odd times down to ~250Mbps

2 - 1 mile west of me - < 5Mbps  (only accessible on 5G from window facing west)

    3 - 1 mile south of me < 5 Mbps (only accessible from south/east)

    4 - 1.5 miles east not accessible

    5 - 4 miles south/east - elevation +400', accessible only when others are down

    6 - 2.5 miles north - blocked by terrain.

Most other sites have better performance (up to 1.6Gbps), as they are on fiber vs. microwave.

  • You may be able to have them remove the problem tower from your authorized list by giving them a call.  The TM Internet app can give you the CGI number of the towers you are connected to at any particular time for reference,
