I can be in Chicago, south bend or Indianapolis and have full 5G bars with absolute no service. There is no reason, if I have 3 bars on 5G, why my text messages will not go through. I ...
TBH, I had no issues with T-Mobile in Chicago, and up through West Bend WI, Green Bay up to the Michigan border. UP of Michigan (outside of I-75) is horrible though.
