G4SE Internet Unstable as of Tuesday 1.03.19 Firmware Update Problem. Gaming and VPN Connections Dropping frequently.
After 6 months of great service, i started having connection stability issues related to gaming and VPN connections staying stable. Starting on Tuesday Oct 1st my connections would randomly drop. After much conversation with tech support they sent me out a replacement G4SE router. I installed it Oct 3rd and noted it was running an older firmware and did not have the disconnect problem. This morning i noticed the router updated itself to 1.03.19 and the disconnects are back. The speeds, signal strength, all that are amazing. I use a hard wired connection to my PC and all measurable speeds are good, like 700-900 megs down good. BUT it drops connections randomly. This is unnacceptable and i believe it to be the result of this latest firmware update. Please roll back these routers to 1.03.14 or push a new fixed update ASAP. Whatever was changed was not properly tested and is causing TONS of problems for a lot of people.

Two days later, T-Life app won’t connect to the gateway.
Via Reddit, I found the HINT Control app - and it gives a LOT more control over our little router.
Channels on/off, power for each channel, ability to CHANGE and LOCK the channel… it's pretty decent. If you like fixing your channel because your neighbors don't, take a look at the HINT Control app. - formercanuckSpectrum Specialist
I received g4ar update as well. Speed bump from ~750Mbps to almost 1gbps. G4se had bump with the flawed update .. lets hope g4ar does better

Received a G4AR from the store. Had to call Home Internet support to switch to the new AR, and to get a shipping label for the SE (unsure why the store wouldn't do the exchange, but whatever)
AR was up and running in mere minutes (tech had me keep my sim card from the SE and put it in the AR). Probably one of the quickest swap-outs I've ever done. Shipping label was in my inbox by the end of the 10 minute call. Zoom/Slack/Teams disruptions, and social media platform partial-loadings are gone.
24 hours later, still running on the original firmware 1.00.09. Fingers crossed for whatever it's update will be. Thanks to everyone on this thread - showing this at the store sent them straight to the stock room with almost no questions. Much appreciated. - RaevynnxNewbie Caller
So are they going to rollback this update or do we all have to waste time going to a store to swap the GW?

For those following this thread, t-mobile has apparently locked subsequent firmware updates to 1.03.14. It is safe to go to the store and get a g4se replacement and let it patch. It would be nice if they communicated this stuff to social media and to their stores so their employees aren't clueless.

Well.. that didn't last long. Dropped zoom/ssh/etc
Spectrum basic. No vpn = 115/12Mbps
With Vpn, 100/10Mbps
Tmobile no vpn, 320/67Mbps
With vpn, 4.8Mbps, 6Mbps
With ‘new’ g4ar gateway

Both were offering G4AR for me.
Orignal -> g4SE (actually had much higher speeds - ~800-1000Mbps). Tech support next day shipped G4AR.
Replacement was effectively DOA, as it wouldn't connect to T-Mobile service (tried other SIMs, factory reset, etc.) CQI=0, yet 4/5 'bars' Was told to exchange, and since the store was still open - They brought out a ... G4AR, but couldn't exchange it, as my original hadn't made it back to the TX warehouse yet (hadn't been shipped yet - only 2 hours after receiving DOA G4AR).
Went home called CS, pretty much same response. Pushed a little, and was given an order for ... another replacement. Another G4AR came in.
Oddly enough, G4AR doesn't work 'as well' with external antenna as it does with internal. Even though RSSI/RSRP/SINR will have same or better stats, performance is .. slightly worse (upload on n41 is where it is noticed the most)

Get a replacement for the G4AR model. I experienced the same issue and went to the store, where they replaced it with a G4AR. The problem was resolved, and it appears that the firmware differs between the two models.
Avoid getting a replacement through customer service, as they tend to send the same G4SE model, which automatically updates to firmware version 1.03.19 when connected.
However, the store will provide you with the G4AR model.

I have been having the exact same issues. My gaming pc and the kids ps5 cannot stay connected to any online game we try. My gateway is on the dreaded 1.03.19

Just as a note: If you 'can' exchange at a store, I'd recommend it.
I received my replacement (g4AR came in to replace g4SE), however, it was effectively dead on arrival. Tech support couldn't get the WAN side to work - my SIM worked fine on existing G4SE, and shows on G4AR, but 4GLTE shows CQI as 0, and 5G doesn't show anything. When shipped, I was told to use my existing SIM in new device (new device didn't have one), rep told me to exchange it at the store (the new replacement!) - store wouldn't replace it, as it was listed as 'warranty exchange' !?? Now I have to use my original which has to be shipped back and until they get it - they won't issue a replacement for the defective G4AR
After an hour of deaing with another home internet tech - they are sending .. another device
As an extra note: Before exchanging through shipping take pictures/video of packaging to avoid 'issues' with returns, as others have mentioned issues with exchanges/returns.
