DNS provider for Home Internet

I have a large home the can will not even cover it so I have my router/gateway plugged into the can that DNS can be changed for the whole home problem solved.

They are not going to change this soon so if you cannot think of an alt there are no other options.

I am happy as is $50 for unlimited with no data cap see my speeds attached. I can work around some of the limitations for the price and speed.

Yea over ¾ of a Gigabit down i'm happy to work with a few limitations.

You know I have had issues with trying to play online games like rocket league on Xbox and I have really high ping for no reason I even tried hooking up a router instead now it shows double NAT witch is not good for gaming I just wish independence where I live would have google FI internet we had Xfinity and they charged to much and if u went over your limit they changed 10 dollars extra I like the 50 a month and it’s added to my phone bill  but they really need to fix some of the problems

You can add your own router and enable DHCP if you want to change DNS services. Most newer routers have this feature, but check to make sure. I use an Asus ZenWifi mesh and have my DNS pointed to the Google public DNS servers.

At present, no, there is no way to change DNS via app or web interface in the TMO gateway routers.

Ok. I think we and most of us on some of these 'DNS threads' may disagree with you on the importance of standard DNS and consumer grade router functions as the rest of the industry delivers on their hardware. Just wonder why TMO product made such a big miss - Your not a TMO Product Manager are you?

No I am not. I never said selecting your own DNS provider is not important. I am giving you a personal opinion of you are better off getting a separate router because all 3rd party routers support this DNS feature. I am using my preferred DNS instead of TMO default as I am typing this. I just manage it on my mesh router instead of the TMO gateway/router.

If you are also saying that most people use their servicer provider routers for home networking, then who is buying the millions of 3rd party wifi routers each month?

I realize that a 3rd party router adds a one time cost to your networking so that is something everyone needs to decide on.

Most of us expect standard feature set with consumer grade equipment ... and as customers we I feel we all do expect this.  My honest opinion … Suggesting or considering customers to go out and pick-up networking equipment, because of the lack of standard networking features, is not a great customer experience.  I believe most of us are wanting to eliminate the tyranny of the boxes as much as possible.  Personally, I don't want my living-room, or any of my rooms for that matter, looking like a corporate LAN switching room with networking gear, boxes, cables, and blinky lights everwhere.  But I thank you and respect your opinion.  TMO can for sure do better when it comes to this and I expect they will.  Thank you again.

Comcast sucks. I’m happy with faster and reasonably priced internet (there is a tower within shooting distance of my front door, YMMV).

I want to use Cloudflare DNS with the free family filters (malware and porn). My workaround is to use my old AC (Wi-Fi 5) router with the DNS settings, plugged into the gateway 

The gateway SSID is hidden, and has a password I don't know. (Just like the router). 

I was going to decommission the router, but this works. 
Oh and TMobile doesn’t offer the content guard for home.
