Sending Email

I just got my 5g home internet. I use several .com domain name emails. I receive email fine, but I cannot send. Are there settings I am missing, does TMobile 5g internet support me sending emails.

Is there a specific STMP setting I should be using? Port number, etc?

  • Outlook is your client, not your mail service. If all you need is a different SMTP server for outgoing mail, Google "Free SMTP" and you'll find dozens of options.

I also have my own domain, which includes email, which I purchase through my domain provider, Hostcentric. They offer an SMTP server I can use as part of my domain services. Who is the provider of your domain, and don't they have their own SMTP server for you to use?

I did end up using gmail smtp with my free gmail account. I had to go into security to generate a mail password, but it is working now. Thanks for the advice!

  • Just another way of their saying they don't maintain an SMTP server. Think about it for a minute: if T-Mobile didn't support SMTP (the protocol) then no one would be able to send email if they subscribed to T-Mobile Home Internet. Such is obviously not the case.

If you are getting your domain name from a hosting company, like Hostcentric or GoDaddy, they have SMTP servers for their own domains. How did you get your domain name? If it's from one an Internet hosting company, I'd check with them for an SMTP server you could use.

In any case, this really isn't a problem with T-Mobile. You should be able to easily find an SMTP server that will serve your needs.

    Good luck, “IPC”!

LOL, when I said Outlook I meant it as I am not using browser for email. I'll give it try; T-Mobile keeps telling me they not support any outgoing email in any form.

I am not using cloud based like Gmail. I use Outlook, my incoming is pop.mydomain.com and SMTP outgoing is with Cox Internet as they require it to be. So my outgoing is smtp.cox.net, I have put in my Cox account user name and password in additional settings and it works. If and when I drop Cox, I lose that outgoing option. I called T Mobile and the tech told me they do not support me sending emails through the home internet service they provide.

  • I use 5 different domains for email and they all work just fine. They include cloud based accounts as well as IMAP. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but mine all worked perfectly when I switched from Xfinity to T-Mobile. I didn't make one change to any of my accounts and they worked, and are working, with no modifications.

It is most likely an SMTP issue as you suspect. Are your accounts all with the same provider but with different recipient names or are they actually multiple accounts from multiple vendors?

Can you still send email from your phone, even if you turn off cellular?

Assuming you are using a cloud-based service like G-Mail, try deleting the account from your computer. All of your mail will remain on the server. Then, reinstall the service, and see if that doesn't fix the problem.

The same suggestion would apply if you're using IMAP for these accounts. Your email will still be up on the server so that you can reinstall the account.

Good luck and post what you find out.
