Facebook links still don't send/receive in Messages. ¿Por qué?

I use the Messages app on my Pixel 2 running Android 11.

For a long time now I have been unable to successfully fully send or receive Facebook links.

If I send a message with a FB link the message will show as sent but the person will never receive it.  If someone sends me a FB link I never get the message.

I know this happens with at least iPhone users on the other end.  I haven't tested it recently with Android users on the other end.

If I send a message with a FB link to a Google Voice number the message is successfully received.   If I send a FB link to certain sms short code services I get a reply.

I posted about this a year or so ago (I guess old threads are gone?) and someone responded that he was having the same issue, but no resolution was ever found.

Any idea what’s going on?

At the end of last year I updated to a Pixel 7 and the problem went away.   I can send/receive Facebook links without issue via (Google) Messages app.

I still have no idea what setting or other issue on the Pixel 2 could have caused the blockage.

I just tried sending a few links through Android Messages on my OnePlus 8T+ 5G.  No issues sending to friends on Verizon.  No issues sending to the other lines on our account and other friends with T-Mobile.  No issues sending to friends and family up in Canada on Rogers and Telus.

  • i post links in a group chat we have going through FB Messenger without any issues daily..and this is to a mix of Android and Apple devices.

contact their Devs..if there is an issue it isnt on the carriers side..it would be due to something on the messengers side or FBs side.

This post is about the stock google Messages texting app, not the FB Messenger app.

Yeah, I know most don't encounter the problem.  But I also know I'm not the only one having it.  I have no idea how to report the problem, especially since it's replicatable by most.

Why dont you just go to face book and read your messages? Or are you hiding something???

I have no idea what you are talking about.  This post isn't about Facebook messages.  Or hiding anything.

It’s about sending a Facebook link via Google’s text message app Messages.

you checked all settings within Google Messages? you could always try to contact Google Messages devs to see whats up.
