First Responder Eligibily

I have been a valued customer for 8+ years and I no longer qualify for the First Responders Program. I have had this discount applied since the height of the COVID pandemic. I am a Registered ER Nurse that saves lives daily and it's very disturbing that we are undervalued and never recognized for our services. How do patrol officers qualify, but Nurse don't? This month will be my last month with T-Mobile (unwilling). However, I will be taking my hard earned money elsewhere that values/recognizes Nurses as lifesavers too. I will definitely not be the only customer you lose. I guarantee you that! Shame on you T-Mobile.

  • I came to this thread after learning that AT&T and Verizon have discounts for RNs. I am shocked and saddened that RNs do not qualify. The response that from TMobile " Nurses with an EMT certification hacer qualify for the Magenta First Responder plan." is frustrating. Of course they would qualify! Anyone with EMT certification does. I plan on leaving TMobile for this reason. Thank you to those who spoke up and shared above. Gratitude to you all.

    I am new to T-mobile and going through the exact same situation. I am not only an RN but also an Emergency Response Official as stated on my ID and still T-mobile doesn't recognize this as qualified. It is shameful and disappointing to see this where the company stands, when RNs are just as much at the frontline and important as those who they consider "qualified first responders".

    I am not a nurse but It absurd they do not qualify. However, I am a certified athletic trainer who saves athletes lives daily. Certified athletic trainers are seen in so many venues. States are beginning to mandate having ATCs because of many deaths that have occurred in athletes that were 100 percent preventable. T-MOBILE do better by providing this discount to all first responders and not what your definition of what you THINK a first responder is.

    Not only are RNs not treated with the same respect as other first responders, but also T-Mobile jacks up the rates when they promised never to raise them. Legere was a wonderful CEO and actually cared about the customer. SHAME MIKE SIEVERT! SHAME! I'm glad I quit shortly after John left, and I'm PROUD to be an RN (even being completely disrespected by T-Mobile) instead of being a supervisor for a heartless company driven solely by greed.

    When I started at T-Mobile almost 2 decades ago, we had 10 million customers. We were small but scrappy. We prioritized the customer experience and tried to delight them. John Legere revolutionized the mobile industry and made me proud to be an employee and supervisor for T-Mobile. I earned many, many trips for being a top performer and loved my job. When John left, the writing was on the wall. I knew it was time to move on so I completed training to become an RN. Most of my old department got axed afterwards by Sievert and his goons. T-Mobile turned into what AT&T and Verizon always were, and what's worse is they FULLY EMBRACE it. As I said, SHAME T-Mobile! SHAME!

  •  I had the same thing happen to me. It is ridiculous that a nurse does not qualify for the discount when we were guaranteed the discount at the time of sign up. I would have never switched phone providers had I known they were going to pull the rug out and let me hit face first.  If T-Mobile wants to keep their nursing customers, I suggest they change the policy immediately. I'm already looking to switch. 

  • I find it very frustrating that we were able to be considered a first responder during a pandemic where we took care a many sick individuals all day everyday and put our lives in danger just as someone considered a first responder was. Now, though we just aren't. I was able to get that first responder discount as well and now I don't. I have really been looking into other carriers who see what we contribute. I say AT & T offers a significant discount as does Spectrum and Boost. I have been with T Mobile for almost 2 decades and find that being loyal to a company doesn't get you anywhere anymore. So if they don't want to show loyalty to their long standing customers than I do not feel bad not showing loyalty to them. It just sucks because I have had no issues other than the pricing issues and their lack of trying to do the right thing. They included nurses in the first responder discount. Then took it away. Just make it right.

    I understand your frustration and we appreciate the invaluable work you do as a Registered ER Nurse. We recognize the critical role nurses play in our communities. The eligibility for the First Responder plan is currently limited to verified members of First Responder organizations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. This includes state and local fire, law enforcement, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel. Nurses with an EMT certification hacer qualify for the Magenta First Responder plan. I understand that this may not seem fair, and your feedback is important as we continually evaluate and update our plans. If you're looking for other ways to save, T-Mobile offers a variety of plans and promotions that might better suit your needs.

    Since you have been getting this plan up until now, did you get a notification about not qualifying anymore? I ask because the plan hasn't changed eligibility requirements recently, so I wonder if maybe you are getting the notification to reverify. The reverification needs to be done every year and if it is not done, it could result in you losing the discount.
