Help activating a new phone

I am originally a sprint customer. I purchased a new phone because I am now part of t mobile. The phone works on the t mobile network but apparently doesn't on my sprint account. Is there any work around for this?

Sprint requires the IMEI of the device to be linked to your account for the device to be able to access the network with a Sprint SIM.  You could try calling Customer Care or reaching out to the T-Force Team via Facebook or Twitter to see if they can do that for you.  If you can still login to your Sprint account online.  You might be able to add the IMEI of the new device in there.

They are probably going to try and convince you to port to a T-Mobile SIM.  If you live in an area with good.overage by T-Mobile.  It might be worth doing so.  If the coverage in your area is not great and if that area is rural.  I would recommend staying on the Sprint side.

@fireguy_6364 might also have some suggestions and hopefully an easy way for you to change the device IMEI on your Sprint account so you can put the Sprint SIM in your new device and have it work.

  • when you purchased the new phone did you also get a new sim card or did you put your old sim card into the new phone? at this point you’re well past the deadline to switch to the R15 sim card so you must have at least that one.

Sprint would have been bankrupt if T-Mobile hadn't purchased it!  Devices on T-Mobile do not require activation.  You put your active SIM in it and if compatible with the network, your device will work.  Sprint's CDMA has all been converted to GSM in most places by now with very little to nothing left for CDMA service.

  • or depending on how old your phone is seeing as how theyre shutting down 3G unless your phone has VoLTE capabilities that will work on TMOs network it isnt allowed.
