what's up with T-mobile removing autopay discount for credit cards?
I just literally signed up for a new plan - debit cards have fees for providers too - accessing my bank account isn’t a good approach from a security perspective (noting that T-mobile has been hacked - i wouldn’t have shared this directly with T-mobile customer service but there is not email or chat and I don’t have time for phone calls

That was announced months ago. It is because credit card companies charge a service charge that is based on the percentage of every transaction, which eats into T-Mobile's revenue. Removing the auto pay discount for credit cards negates that.

I was with T-mobile for over 10 years. Since they decided to charge me $10 per month to use a credit card for auto pay I moved my business to Verizon. I know Verizon does the same thing but their service is better and the autopay discount was the only reason I had stuck with T-mobile all these years. I just don't see the logic in driving away customers. I get that banks charge for credit card transactions but I'm guessing it is only a 1.5% fee. If Tmobile had said they want to pass on a 1.5% fee to me to use my credit card (which would be $2.40 /month in my case) I would have been more likely to have stayed.

I was with TMobile for almost 20 years and the autopay discount was the only reason for sticking around over the past few. There's no longer a valid reason to be here.

Been with T Mobile since 2006 and this now foreign owned company has went downhill fast accelerating its speed to mediocrity and poor customer service after the Sprint merger. As many have said this is a money thing pure and simple, increase profits and ignore customer outcry and dissatisfaction.
Yah sure you betcha I am going to link my bank account to a company that has been hacked multiple times…..NOT! We got our ID stolen after T-Mobile was hacked in 2019 and it was a nightmare.
So if you want to make a point have them send you a bill via USPS monthly and pay the bill with a check - I know its not ideal for most of us that like the convenience of auto pay and /or electronic bill paying BUT if all or even half of T Mobile customers would do it even for two months it would cost them millions to send receive and process the payments!
We are starting next month please consider doing the same...

I just got the text from TMobile about the autopay with credit card no longer receiving a discount as promised. I consider this as TMobile breaching the service agreement. And since TMobile is beaching the agreement, all agreements are off including arbitration. I will file a PUC complaint and join any and all class action lawsuits.
Really TMobile? You think you're going to get access to our debit card or bank accounts? NO! You think you're going to take away our discounts and still get to charge our credit cards? NO! Time to switch back to paper billing and we will send you electronic checks (no stamp required) until we switch to another service. Good bye TMobile!!
Auto pay discount is not part of the service agreement. Also if you read the terms and conditions for Tmobile service they can make changes as they see fit. Good luck with the class.

I am not keen on providing my debit card or bank account number. After waiting on hold for an hour, the technician told me that she would apply a credit to cover auto-pay for 3 months. Then after that, I would resume auto-pay and could still use my credit card. Not sure why they didn't just leave things as they were. We'll see if what she said actually happens. If not, I will likely cancel auto-pay and send them a check every month.

What protections is TMO putting in place? As it has been shown that they don't know how to protect data why should I feel safe giving direct access to my bank account? Where are my rights listed?
You can keep the payment with a credit card you just don't get the autopay discount.

Are there ay lawyers out there? I don' think it is legal to change the rules after you already made an agreement. What about a Class action law suite ??? I have been using my CC since I started with T-mobile in 2022 Feb. Now I will lose my discount. I chatted with them and was told that it is because people will pay with CC, get the discount, then revers the charge, REally? I don't think that is the case. How can they really expect someone to be forced to use a personal checking account or debit card to receive the discount. I can choose to use my CC but at a cost now of 20.00 a month, this is basically a charge to protect my checking account from being hacked.
let me know if you find one for a class action suit I am ready to sign
Unfortunately in Tmobile's terms and conditions they can change it. Autopay discount is a perk not part of the plan cost.

You can still pay by credit card and earn your miles. T-Mobile has not taken away your ability to pay by credit card, only the discount.
Not exactly. Yes, you can manually pay be credit card, but you still must have a debit card or checking ACH on file to have the discount. UNACCEPTABLE.

Re: Want to sign up for paperless billingWe're sorry to hear that you're having so much trouble, but let's find out a bit more on this. You would be set to paper-free billing by default, but if you changed that to where a physical bill is sent out each month, please check out this link for steps on turning on paper-free option: https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-205735/ . You can always access and view a digital version of the last 12 months of billing statements through My Verizon. Please keep in mind that you don't get a discount just with paper-free billing, as you must also be enrolled in Auto Pay with either a debit card or a bank account. If you are using a credit card for Auto Pay, it's not going to give you a discount through us, unless it's the Verizon VISA card. Please check the same link I had shared for steps on managing your Auto Pay.

I just got the message too. It's stupid. Especially since I use Apple Pay which gives me the additional 3% cashback on top of the $20 discount
And the credit card I pay with has phone insurance covering theft and accidental damage. As long as I pay the bill with it...
Tmobile best rethink this decision.
The same! So even if I do accept this change and pay with my debit or bank account, I will STILL lose money.
I have been with T-Mobile, essentially, since before they were T-Mobile (VoiceStream), and I have mostly enjoyed the perks of having their service. However, over the recent years, they have been steadily doing things that cause me to think about other carriers.
