Gateway sim card in a different router
I have read about how to add an external antenna to the KVD21 and am a little nervous. Instead, has anyone removed the SIM card from the KVD21 and put it in a different router that has antenna ports? Are there specific settings that are needed for this?
@mattbuilt to my knowledge, the TM SIM card will not work on a non-TM gateway. I am told that the SIM card is programed to work with the TM gateways. I personally tried it with an aftermarket gateway with negative results.
As far as adding an external antenna, I did so and I am very happy with the results. To your point, the antenna contacts on the gateway are copper and very fragile, so being gentle and steady are required traits.
