10 TopicsSelecting the internal Directional antenna?
The GAR (white panel) transceiver is indicated to have both a Directional and OMNI-directional antenna. My unit is located 1.5 feet from window with line of sight to 5G/LTE tower .5 miles away but only indicates a GOOD signal. Is there a way to select the Directional internal antenna? Incidentally, I have 5 bars of 5G signal on phone and Internet data rates less than 100MBS.214Visto0likes3ComentariosG4AR Gateway external antenna use
I've been trying to use the G4AR gateway with my external antennas but see little improvement when connected.I have been using another provider's cellular modem with a T-Mobile sim (so same tower and provider) for 3 years with no reception issues. I called tech support and was told the antenna ports are for wi-fi reception in my house, not cellular. Can anyone confirm or refute support's statement?1.9KViews0likes24ComentariosHow do I get a modem with external antenna - G4AR
I am a new home internet user on 20 acres in S GA. I normally get decent signal from 1 tower. When it has issues though I am down. I cannot keep the service if I cannot fix. I am willing to install a 30' tower but I need some way to connect antenna to a modem. Current I have the black box mounted 18' up on side of home in a NEMA enclosure. Not good enough. How can I get a new modem and keep TMOBILE? -G4ARSolved296Visto0likes1ComentarioGateway sim card in a different router
I have read about how to add an external antenna to the KVD21 and am a little nervous. Instead, has anyone removed the SIM card from the KVD21 and put it in a different router that has antenna ports? Are there specific settings that are needed for this?Solved355Visto0likes1ComentarioWhat I did to get better connection without antenna, Bucket idea
I've had my T-Mobile Trash can for over a year already and did a lot of experimenting with it as far as location and how to get he best reception for the least money. I noticed while I'm 3-4 miles from any tower , I would get very little reception at least anything good while in the house. And I was correct while in the house it was terrible slower than slow lucky to get 1.5 down with 2 bars showing for my primary signal and nothing for my secondary. So, before I jump out and spend a small fortune on an antenna and cables , I took the cheap approach to see if it would even work in my area . I placed the trashcan inside a 5-gallon bucket with a lid on it upside down with one smaller entry hole cut into the bottom for electric and any drainage from dew buildup. While in the bucket I rotated the trashcan to get the best reception and marked it there, I also set the trashcan in the bucket but not on the lid but instead raised it on top a small empty coffee can so if any water or condensation were inside it would quickly drain out before ever coming near the height of the unit. Strapped it down from the winds and snow and now I get a primary signal of -104 dbm which is not that great and secondary signal of -92 dbm whereas now I get a constant download speed of 80-150 Mbps and uploads of 12-19 Mbps.. Been out there for almost a year and doing its job without dumping 4-5 hundred on an antenna that who knows if it will work on the next model that comes out.651Visto4likes4ComentariosFull configuration of DHCP and other network services
Is there a way to get into a configuration screen for theKVD21 5G Gateway? Ideally, I'd like to connect my gateway to an existing TP-Link router to supply wireless and DHCP. I can work around the wireless by giving theKVD21 5G Gateway a separate SSID than the router, but I don't see any way to get into DHCP and configure or disable it on the gateway. I understand that T-Mobile is looking for simplicity of use for the overwhelming number of users, and I certainly think that's commendable. Nonetheless, for those of us who understand the basics of networking, access to advanced features would be a major improvement.Solved4.9KViews0likes17ComentariosRecent ArcadyanKVD21 Slowdown
I'm recently unable to obtain any meaningful speed from my T-Mobile Arcadyan KVD21 Gateway. When I installed the unit last July, I was achieving downloads of over 200 Mbps and uploads of over 50 Mbps. But during the last few weeks, I'm only getting 5 Mbps downloads and .5 Mbps uploads! The Arcadyan display shows 4 bars of signal and a 5G connection. I have line-of sight to the tower, which is less than 1 mile away (but on the other side of some high-tension power lines). Here are my 5G cellular metrics with the unit in my home: RSRQ = -6 RSPR = -78 SINR = 11 BAND = N71 As I said, I had great speeds just a few weeks ago. Something changed, and I have tried to troubleshoot this with T-Mobile but so far, no results. As a test today, I drove the gateway a short distance in my motorhome and ran some speed tests.I was only 1/3 mile away from my home (but I positioned my vehicle to be on the far side of thehigh-tension power lines) and found the speed to be phenomenal (263 x 73), proving thatthere's nothing wrong with my gateway. Here are my 5G cellular metrics with the unit 1/3 mile away, on the other side of the power lines: RSRQ = 3 RSRP = -79 SINR = 26 BAND = N41 My questions are 1.) Would there be any logical reason for the power lines to suddenly interfere? 2.) Will an external antenna help or would the power lines continue to be a problem? 3.) Is the problem unrelated to the powerlines?161Visto0likes2Comentarios
