22 TopicsHigh-Speed Internet Gateway does not work with some apps on T-mobile Home Wifi Internet
I don't know if anybody can help. Encountered a few deal breaking moments with T-mobile Home Wifi internet. I get a whopping 100-235mbps with my High-Speed Internet Gateway but it prevents full access to apps causing extreme lag spikes, pages not loading and video not playing with Amazon Prime Video (on PS4 and on Amazon Fire Stick 4k), TD Ameritrade trading platform for Windows 10, and to a lesser extent apps like Epic Games on PC I also have T-vision TV package, that works fine. So does Netflix. Epic games was able to be fixed once telling PC to use Google DNS 8.8.8.8. and 8.8.4.4. respectively. I had to use Nord VPN to get TD Ameritrade to function correctly without freezing at times, DNS change did not work here. Amazon prime video is still a no go, constantly stops and takes a long time to load again only to stop again. DNS change also did not resolve the issue. It should still work with Nord VPN because it bypasses all T-Mobile filters, but I did not buy T-mobile Home WiFi internet to need the VPN all the time, so I did not bother trying VPN with Prime Video. Is that something we can possibly fix in firmware? And soon please? Speaking of firmware. There is no place to get a new Firmware update which the High-Speed Internet Gateway critically needs. It lacks too many features. One the most needed features is to allow the High-Speed Internet Gateway to turn in just a modem and turn off all routing features so that users can bring their own independent routers to handle DHCP and other advanced functions. High-Speed Internet Gateway also has a bug where I can not fully disable all of the WiFi Signals. You can stop broadcast and SSID from being announced and reduce the radio power for 2.4ghz and 5ghz from 100% down to 12% but it is still not entirely off. I can still see a 5ghz band displaying a signal and allows me to connect when WiFi is supposed to be disabled. Apparently there is a 5Ghz low and 5Ghz high antenna mode. And the 5ghz high is the one that remains visible and usable. Can not be turned off. I don't want to use the hub for wifi, just want to use hard wired internet. I hope to see these issues addressed in the next firmware update with a resources on where we can obtain the new firmware update file as right now there is no information on that anywhere for the new High-Speed Internet Gateway. At the very least I want to see the simple feature of turning the gateway into a modem all by itself and I can handle all the routing on my end instead and if it comes to it I can do a whole house VPN that way and bypass all the problems. Older gateways had the expert mode from what I could see, please bring that back too if you can. Thank you for reading! And for the help! Mike P.S. I have already tried turning it off and back on again, obviously does not work. VPN seems to be the only way to bypass all the problems, but since the unit can not disable routing to act solely as a modem, I can not use a separate router for DHCP and to run VPN for the whole house.9.1KViews7likes21ComentariosWhy is T-Mobile service slow?
I switched to T-Mobile 2 years ago and it was great. I broke off from my family's verizon plan to start my own. The coverage was about the same then so I saw no difference in speeds or pockets of dropped signal. But recently, the past few months have been absolutely infuriating and frustrating with the connection being so slow that my google maps loses connection. I live by a MAJOR city so I would expect to at least have some speed but no. I cannot load webpages, I cannot make phone calls for work, and I can't even use my phone to pay bills. Why is their connection so slow recently? I've spoken to many "technicians" and they all say the same thing and offer the same advice but nothing has changed. Is anyone else experiencing just general slowness?2.6KViews5likes14ComentariosVelocidad de descarga
Home internet was told I would be in 5G coverage area but map only shows 4G. Modem shows 4 signal bars. When I reboot modem I get download speeds up to about 62 meg. After about 5 or 6 minutes it drops to anywhere from 8 to 15. Is there possibly something wrong with the modem? Has been this way since I got it about a month ago.Solved879Visto4likes8Comentarios5G internet Fast and Reliable When!?
I signed up for the home internet, I live in a small town in western Washington. I decided to get it because my 5G phone gets 80+ mbs down with really nice latency. So I get the box, I get a great 5 bar connection and for a couple days I experienced 80+ mbs down. I'm almost half way through my 14 day trial. During the day and on weekends, I see 0.28 mbps while my phone, right beside the box, gets 80+. For days now I've been testing and testing. At night itimproves for a few hours before it's back to nothing during core work hours. I don't see a point in customer supportpeople across the planet with scripted responses. They wont directly access the box and they wont alleviate any throttling, theysay "the tower is being worked on" or send another box, and all it does is buy time till my trial is over. Am I missing something here? Most people who seem to have an ok experience with the internet live in metro areas where they don't even need it and have other options such as cable. It's advertised to help connect people in more rural locations except it's actually worse than the ancient 3mb dsl option.256Visto2likes3ComentariosWhy T-Mobile??!
Signed up for T-Mobile Home Internet 3 months ago. First couple of weeks, fantastic. After that, began experiencing dropped connections every few hours. Figured it was the heat. Put the gateway on top of a 3" high egg rack with a 9" fan blowing on high at the gateway, and things stabilized so that we only had to reboot the gateway every couple of days in order to re-establish a connection. For the past month, however, things have been going sharply downhill. Over the past 2 weeks, internet has been completely unusable for streaming during 'peak" times (evenings /weekends). Today, internet has been totally unusable: download speed in teens and low 20's when it's "good", upload speed maxes out at 0.3 to 0.5. Speed test shows 96% loss. That's not a typo. Data consumption currently shows 118GB total combined usage for 2 phones and the gateway. Speed became unusable around the time we hit 100GB. However, we have regular "Home Internet" - NOT "Home Internet Lite". We were promised unlimited 5G Home Internet data with our 2-line Magenta Max plan. But T-mobile has fallen far short and is not delivering on its promises. It's so bad, T-Mobile is making even Spectrum look good. Tried to chat with support, and "Khasmirjoy" literally never even once responded to any question or comment in the chat, even though checkmarks appeared showing they'd been read. I have finally had enough and today signed up for AT&T 1Gig Fiber but that won't be installed until a week from today. We work from home and simply cannot go a full week with T-mobile's useless "internet". What I'd like to know is what is going on? Why does it seem that most people with T-Mobile Home Internet get the promised speeds for a month or two before T-Mo apparently begins throttling down so bad it becomes unusable? Why is support SOOOOO bad (nonexistent)? And 96% loss, seriously??!285Visto2likes1ComentarioCellular data not working in Chicago area.
My cellular data (iPhone14 pro)has been going in and out and if it's even working it's extremely slow. A speed test hit a high of 20mps. My phone will show full 5Guc butnot load and and disconnect from the internet. It will switchbetween 5Guc, 5G, LTE, E, and SOS mode.Using WiFi there are zero issues. Ialso was ona Sprint plan and upgraded to a tmobile plan for "premium data". It's been this way overa month now in the Chicago area. Anyone else having these issues?92Visto1like2ComentariosUpload speed slow
I use a VPN for work, when I am connected to the VPN my upload speed is terrible (0.01 Mbps). However, when I'm using my WiFi without being connected to the VPNfor work the upload speed is fine. I have spoken extensively with the IT department at work and they have advised me to reach out to my ISP for assistance. So far we have attempted the following: - Attempted to reseat Ethernet cable at both ends - Attempted connecting using wireless instead of Ethernet - Attempted Reconnecting to the VPN - Attempted restarting my laptop - Pinged the loopback address to rule out any NIC issues - Attempted resetting the router - Still getting about a hundred down and .05 up Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.375Visto1like2Comentarios
