Reference Number 20231053008338
I'm a T-mobile customer, I was mailed a letter from T-Mobile that my credit is too bad for a item I wanted to buy. First, I never try buying anything. Second, I have an 830 credit score. I have tried to call Customer Service for two days, waited on line for a total of 8 hours and 17 mins. over 18 differnt calls.
The letter has a Reference Number 20231053008338.
Customer service is nonexistent!!

if viable you can also contact them through one of their social media platforms like Facebook or Twitter..you start with higher tier support compared to the call in agents.
the number you keep calling..was it on the said email or are you contacting TMO through a known number? this could be a scam and said scammer is using TMO lingo/pics etc

Hola @Jim3021 , that is a super weird letter to get out of the blue like that. Normally, your credit is only run during activation which is also when we determine the amount that you may be able to finance when it comes to devices.
Have you reviewed your credit reports to see if you have any recent credit inquiries? If so, you can dispute the inquiry directly with the credit bureau that it shows up on. You may also want to place a freeze on your credit to avoid any possible fraud on your identity. I put a freeze on my credit to protect myself from bad people and from impulse purchases. 😁
If you don't have a credit inquiry on your credit reports, then you should contact our support teams to do a quick review of your account and possibly search for any additional accounts that may be out there for you. If that also turns up with no results, then the letter that you received may be a phishing attempt.

The best answer I received from a Customer Service person ( If I understood them correctly, because they are very, very hard to understand) was that an email was to be sent to me explaning why and how this letter was sent to me. I was promised! I really did not except a follow thourgh from customer service, because after over 18 attemps and hours of hold time, I think customer service is non-existent. This was just a way to get me off the phone.

I really wish that I had the ability to review the credit reference for you here, but I just don't have account access needed to do that. When did they file the request that they told you would lead to the email? After they file incident, you should receive that response in about 4-6 business days. If it has been longer than that, I would call one more time and have the customer support person review the notes for the request that was filed and go from there.
I highly recommend you review your credit reports for any recent inquiries. If there is something there, then you can report it there too. I am a big fan of facing a problem from all possible angles. You reported it to us and there is a process going there, but there is also opportunity to address it from the credit agencies as well.

By all means, place a freeze on your credit files at the big three agencies. Once done it only takes a couple of clicks to thaw for a legitimate inquiry and then re-freeze after the credit check you've allowed. I just did it for T-Mobile to run my credit when I switched from Verizon in March. It makes it near impossible for a crook to open an account' or buy anything in your name, even if they have your info. It's free to do by law in the US at least.
