How to unlock a phone that’s no longer in use
I have a phone that I no longer use but it's already paid off. I bought it from a t-mobile store, but it seems I need to unlock it to use it on another carrier. Now, I can't go to a store because I'm at another country right now. The number it used to have is already in use with a new phone. I've been contacting t-mobile service but I don't get an answer even after hours of waiting in the call. Is there an easier way to unlock it using the app or the website?

The device, your T-Mobile USA account, and network usage all have to be met to be eligible for a SIM unlock from T-Mobile. T-Mobile's SIM Unlock Policy states the requirements and how to request the SIM unlock.

Android devices can take a few days where iPhones can take weeks, because the SIM unlock request is passed on to Apple and then it is up to Apple to complete the SIM unlock. If your device is an Android device, use the T-Mobile Unlock app that came preinstalled in the device to request a permanent SIM unlock. That device will need to be connected to the T-Mobile USA network, not roaming, with your T-Mobile SIM to process successfully.
