High-Speed Internet Gateway does not work with some apps on T-mobile Home Wifi Internet
I don't know if anybody can help. Encountered a few deal breaking moments with T-mobile Home Wifi internet. I get a whopping 100-235mbps with my High-Speed Internet Gateway but it prevents full access to apps causing extreme lag spikes, pages not loading and video not playing with Amazon Prime Video (on PS4 and on Amazon Fire Stick 4k), TD Ameritrade trading platform for Windows 10, and to a lesser extent apps like Epic Games on PC I also have T-vision TV package, that works fine. So does Netflix. Epic games was able to be fixed once telling PC to use Google DNS 8.8.8.8. and 8.8.4.4. respectively. I had to use Nord VPN to get TD Ameritrade to function correctly without freezing at times, DNS change did not work here. Amazon prime video is still a no go, constantly stops and takes a long time to load again only to stop again. DNS change also did not resolve the issue. It should still work with Nord VPN because it bypasses all T-Mobile filters, but I did not buy T-mobile Home WiFi internet to need the VPN all the time, so I did not bother trying VPN with Prime Video. Is that something we can possibly fix in firmware? And soon please? Speaking of firmware. There is no place to get a new Firmware update which the High-Speed Internet Gateway critically needs. It lacks too many features. One the most needed features is to allow the High-Speed Internet Gateway to turn in just a modem and turn off all routing features so that users can bring their own independent routers to handle DHCP and other advanced functions. High-Speed Internet Gateway also has a bug where I can not fully disable all of the WiFi Signals. You can stop broadcast and SSID from being announced and reduce the radio power for 2.4ghz and 5ghz from 100% down to 12% but it is still not entirely off. I can still see a 5ghz band displaying a signal and allows me to connect when WiFi is supposed to be disabled. Apparently there is a 5Ghz low and 5Ghz high antenna mode. And the 5ghz high is the one that remains visible and usable. Can not be turned off. I don't want to use the hub for wifi, just want to use hard wired internet. I hope to see these issues addressed in the next firmware update with a resources on where we can obtain the new firmware update file as right now there is no information on that anywhere for the new High-Speed Internet Gateway. At the very least I want to see the simple feature of turning the gateway into a modem all by itself and I can handle all the routing on my end instead and if it comes to it I can do a whole house VPN that way and bypass all the problems. Older gateways had the expert mode from what I could see, please bring that back too if you can. Thank you for reading! And for the help! Mike P.S. I have already tried turning it off and back on again, obviously does not work. VPN seems to be the only way to bypass all the problems, but since the unit can not disable routing to act solely as a modem, I can not use a separate router for DHCP and to run VPN for the whole house.
T-mobile gateway with seperate router
I'm just starting out on T-Mobile home internet but didn't want to stop using my Asus Router which is set up nicely already to handle everything in this household (both wifi and ethernet). Here's what I did to avoid any problems. I hooked my Router's WAN port (which use to go to my cable modem) to one of the two ethernet ports on the back of the T-Mobile Gateway. To avoid double NAT and other problems, I went to Administration on my Asus RT-AX82U and changed it from Wireless Router to Access Point. I made sure to download the Device Discovery Utility linked under Access Point before saving the change so I could get the Router IP address to log into it after the Router reboots. Then just type the new IP into the browser to continue managing the Router. I hope this helps anyone that simply wants to keep using their Router and it's setup with the T-Mobile Gateway. I can't totally disable the wifi in the T-Mobile Gateway (mine is the Sagemcom), but I switched it to 5Ghz only in the Tmobile app to cut down on any interference (which hasn't been a problem anyway) and still only use the WiFi from my Asus Router.Tmobile 5g home internet + Xbox Series X not compatible
Thanks to T-Mobile's Test Drive, I can try out the home internet for 15days. I'm getting good speeds and so far so good… I was really happy with the service until……… It's not compatible with my Xbox Series X. Apps like YouTube, Twitch, Hulu all work. But if I want to play games online, that's where it doesnt work. I get disconnected from the games respective servers. Doing a test on the network I get UPnP unavailable. I can retest until the UPnP is available but as soon as I start playing a game online, it disconnects. I see that I can attempt to connect a wireless router but I cannot control any settings on the App or if I log into router via a web browser. The only thing I can do is change names and passwords, but nothing else. Can a wireless router be connected to the gateway? If so, which brands will work best? There are other posts about this issue but no answer. I hope there is a solution or else the home internet goes back to T-Mobile and they will lose out on $50/month.

Hey everyone. Gamer here. So recently on the 5g model of the home internet I have strict ip address and I've tried changing things around and hooked straight to the router and I still get the same thing. Haven't been able to play with friends or anything. So I'm not sure what else to check or to look for. Since this model doesn't offer upnp or dmz not sure what else to do.DO NOT GET T MOBILE. INFO FOR GAMERS. It Doesnt work AT ALL
I got the 5g Gateway and I cant do anything i Need to. I cant Play On My Ps4 OR Stream On twitch. It Says My NAT Type is "type 3" my Ping is EXTEREMELY HIGH On everything. I Only Switched to this because AT&T goes out every time it rains and takes forever to come back on. THIS SERVICE IS EVEN WORSE. id rather deal with outages instead of nothing working at all. This Service is a COMPLETE rip off and I would NEVER recommend it to ANYBODY IN THE WORLD. I've Only Had it For a Few Hours and I've been frustrated Ever since I turned it on. This Has been the worst Internet experience I ever had in my entire life.Can't Play Basic Online Games Because of Nat Type Issue
Don't know much of anything about networking, just know I can't play super Smash Brothers and other games on my Nintendo switch! I have the newest T-Mobile home internet router, the black rectangular one. Streaming content works just fine, browsing the internet works just fine, but gaming of pretty much any kind seems to be impossible, and I always get an error message stating that my Nat Type is incorrect or something of that nature. What can I do to fix this? I can create a hotspot on my phone and play Nintendo switch online just fine, surely I can do it with their advanced router.
Does T-Mobile have any plans to expose advanced settings on their gateways?
Is anyone able to provide a timeline for T-Mobile providing access to advanced router settings? (You know, the ones virtually all other ISPs provide) Currently T-Mobile's home internet solution does not allow users to: Manage DNS settings Manage DHCP (IP addresses for client machines) Use any subnet other than 192.168.12.x connected directly to the gateway Put the gateway into bridge mode - this results in double network address translation (NAT) that breaks services like port forwarding and VPN Specify the channel to be used for wireless SSIDs (neither 2.4 nor 5Ghz) It would be really nice to know if T-Mobile has any intention of ever resolving these issues. Until they do, users will continue to be frustrated with just how inflexible and limiting the T-Mobile home internet solution actually is compared to other ISPs. When you factor in that most users get 150/30Mbpsas average bandwidth, T-Mobile's low cost is actually not that low - most ISPs will provide 400/35Mbps for just a few dollars more. So, when can we expect to get real access, on T-Mobile Home Internet, to the configuration options that almost all other ISPs provide already? It really is shameful that this hasn't been addressed or resolved already!
