Thanks to T-Mobile's Test Drive, I can try out the home internet for 15days. I'm getting good speeds and so far so good… I was really happy with the service until……… It's not compatible with my Xbox Series X. Apps like YouTube, Twitch, Hulu all work. But if I want to play games online, that's where it doesnt work. I get disconnected from the games respective servers. Doing a test on the network I get UPnP unavailable. I can retest until the UPnP is available but as soon as I start playing a game online, it disconnects. I see that I can attempt to connect a wireless router but I cannot control any settings on the App or if I log into router via a web browser. The only thing I can do is change names and passwords, but nothing else. Can a wireless router be connected to the gateway? If so, which brands will work best? There are other posts about this issue but no answer. I hope there is a solution or else the home internet goes back to T-Mobile and they will lose out on $50/month.18KViews2likes23ComentariosI want to replace the home internet gateway
I've had T-Mobile home internet a few months. I was told service in my area was iffy butdecided to take the risk. They were upgrading the tower near me. That caused outages but I hung in there. The Sagemcom gateway was frequently going into standby mode, too. It would show connected to the tower but not provide internet to connected Wi-Fi devices though devices could talk to each other through the local network. After a time the gateway became more reliable only requiring a reboot every couple of days. There wasa two month window with good internet. Then the gateway starting going into standby again and T-Mobile replaced it with theArcadyan. TheArcadyan is extremely reliable but not nearly as fast. Unfortunately theArcadyan will not service a great number of Wi-Fi connections. I have ten Google Nest Mini speakers and group play would not work with theArcadyan. I have many other devices, too. As a test I connected my 12 year old Buffalo router. It has 2.4 and 5 g bands. It services all the Wi-Fi connectionsjust fine. I sometimes haddevice connection issues with the Sagemcom, too. I guess the Sagemcom handled it better. Having hooked up the old router and seeing how it solved connection issues I know both the Sagemcom and Arcadyan have that problem. So I'm going to buy the latest technology Wi-Fi router and turn theWi-Fi radios off on theArcadyan. There's a script to do that. I can easily decide on a new router. While doing research I thought about replacing the T-Mobile supplied gateway, too. Since the Sagecom is faster than theArcadyan I am thinking there may be other brands that work with T-Mobile. Talking to T-Mobile they said I could try a Nokia for $35 fee. On Amazon I saw aYeacomm 5G Modem AX3600 and aNETGEAR Nighthawk M6 5G WiFi 6 Mobile Hotspot Router (MR6150). It says theNETGEAR Nighthawk is certified to work with T-Mobile. Home internet 5G is different from phone 5G and has a radio just for that on the tower, I was told. I am wondering if anyone has experience replacing their T-Mobile supplied gatewaySolved9KViews0likes3ComentariosHigh-Speed Internet Gateway does not work with some apps on T-mobile Home Wifi Internet
I don't know if anybody can help. Encountered a few deal breaking moments with T-mobile Home Wifi internet. I get a whopping 100-235mbps with my High-Speed Internet Gateway but it prevents full access to apps causing extreme lag spikes, pages not loading and video not playing with Amazon Prime Video (on PS4 and on Amazon Fire Stick 4k), TD Ameritrade trading platform for Windows 10, and to a lesser extent apps like Epic Games on PC I also have T-vision TV package, that works fine. So does Netflix. Epic games was able to be fixed once telling PC to use Google DNS 8.8.8.8. and 8.8.4.4. respectively. I had to use Nord VPN to get TD Ameritrade to function correctly without freezing at times, DNS change did not work here. Amazon prime video is still a no go, constantly stops and takes a long time to load again only to stop again. DNS change also did not resolve the issue. It should still work with Nord VPN because it bypasses all T-Mobile filters, but I did not buy T-mobile Home WiFi internet to need the VPN all the time, so I did not bother trying VPN with Prime Video. Is that something we can possibly fix in firmware? And soon please? Speaking of firmware. There is no place to get a new Firmware update which the High-Speed Internet Gateway critically needs. It lacks too many features. One the most needed features is to allow the High-Speed Internet Gateway to turn in just a modem and turn off all routing features so that users can bring their own independent routers to handle DHCP and other advanced functions. High-Speed Internet Gateway also has a bug where I can not fully disable all of the WiFi Signals. You can stop broadcast and SSID from being announced and reduce the radio power for 2.4ghz and 5ghz from 100% down to 12% but it is still not entirely off. I can still see a 5ghz band displaying a signal and allows me to connect when WiFi is supposed to be disabled. Apparently there is a 5Ghz low and 5Ghz high antenna mode. And the 5ghz high is the one that remains visible and usable. Can not be turned off. I don't want to use the hub for wifi, just want to use hard wired internet. I hope to see these issues addressed in the next firmware update with a resources on where we can obtain the new firmware update file as right now there is no information on that anywhere for the new High-Speed Internet Gateway. At the very least I want to see the simple feature of turning the gateway into a modem all by itself and I can handle all the routing on my end instead and if it comes to it I can do a whole house VPN that way and bypass all the problems. Older gateways had the expert mode from what I could see, please bring that back too if you can. Thank you for reading! And for the help! Mike P.S. I have already tried turning it off and back on again, obviously does not work. VPN seems to be the only way to bypass all the problems, but since the unit can not disable routing to act solely as a modem, I can not use a separate router for DHCP and to run VPN for the whole house.9KViews7likes21ComentariosT-mobile gateway with seperate router
I'm just starting out on T-Mobile home internet but didn't want to stop using my Asus Router which is set up nicely already to handle everything in this household (both wifi and ethernet). Here's what I did to avoid any problems. I hooked my Router's WAN port (which use to go to my cable modem) to one of the two ethernet ports on the back of the T-Mobile Gateway. To avoid double NAT and other problems, I went to Administration on my Asus RT-AX82U and changed it from Wireless Router to Access Point. I made sure to download the Device Discovery Utility linked under Access Point before saving the change so I could get the Router IP address to log into it after the Router reboots. Then just type the new IP into the browser to continue managing the Router. I hope this helps anyone that simply wants to keep using their Router and it's setup with the T-Mobile Gateway. I can't totally disable the wifi in the T-Mobile Gateway (mine is the Sagemcom), but I switched it to 5Ghz only in the Tmobile app to cut down on any interference (which hasn't been a problem anyway) and still only use the WiFi from my Asus Router.4.7KViews6likes11ComentariosGoogle Nest WiFi
I just got T-Mobile Internet and I found that my security camera and smart plugs don't work since they don't work with 5G. I have the google nest mesh and I wonder if using the mesh I will be able to have 2.4 in the house, so the camera and the smart plugs work.3.4KViews0likes3ComentariosWill connecting everything to my personal router's WiFi resolve the double NAT issue?
Because the T-mobile modem/router doesn't support changing DNS servers or the Circle device, I need to utilize my own router in non-bridge mode. If I connect all my devices only to my personal router's WiFi, do I bypass the double NAT issue, or no?2.4KViews0likes7ComentariosAccess OpenVPN server behind T-mobile Home Internet
Currently, I am testing T-Mobile 5G Home Internet. Here is what I found while I am doing testing: 1. CG-NAT, I am getting 192.168.12 IP on my router WAN 2. NAT444, NAT after NAT, even whatismyip.com gives me a public ip which is the tower public ip, not my modem/gateway Ip. 3. On my Asus router, I turn on IPv6, so I have a public IPv6 My setup: 1. Internet <-> T-Mobile (modem/gateway 192.168.12.) <-> Asus router (192.168.1.0/24) 2. I have Ipv6 on my router, which is a public 2607:fb91:82ae:1493 3. I have OpenVPN server setup on the router. (I tested by access 192.168.12.x from my internal network which works, but it doesn't work when I use the public IPv6 Ip) 4. I have firewall disabled to make sure things work first Goals: 1. I can access my internal network from a public location, so I can get files on my harddrive (attach to the router USB port) 2. Access other web which has region check and I was oversea Questions: 1. How may I OpenVPN into my router from public so I can access my network resource? 2. Any other suggestions?2.4KViews0likes5Comentariosps5&xbox series one x
Hey everyone. Gamer here. So recently on the 5g model of the home internet I have strict ip address and I've tried changing things around and hooked straight to the router and I still get the same thing. Haven't been able to play with friends or anything. So I'm not sure what else to check or to look for. Since this model doesn't offer upnp or dmz not sure what else to do.2.1KViews2likes2ComentariosCan't Play Basic Online Games Because of Nat Type Issue
Don't know much of anything about networking, just know I can't play super Smash Brothers and other games on my Nintendo switch! I have the newest T-Mobile home internet router, the black rectangular one. Streaming content works just fine, browsing the internet works just fine, but gaming of pretty much any kind seems to be impossible, and I always get an error message stating that my Nat Type is incorrect or something of that nature. What can I do to fix this? I can create a hotspot on my phone and play Nintendo switch online just fine, surely I can do it with their advanced router.2.1KViews1like1Comentariotmobile wifi gateway vs connecting with google nest mesh
I hello everyone ! I got the T-Mobile wifi on my house working great getting around 200-400 mps download which is great for $50 a month. I already had the google nest mesh wifi system and I was wondering if it's best to use the mesh of google nest or just use the 5g gateway T-Mobile sent. I've heard of people that the gatewaygets overheated and doesn't support something to do with a private address or dns something like that which I don't even know the benefits of but I'm wondering if everyone else recommends an external router or just using the gateway since it's giving me faster speeds.2KViews0likes3Comentarios
