slow internet
53 Topicsfinding best location for T-Mobile home Internet gateway
I'm confused about moving the unit around the house to find the best location. To do this must the unit be plugged in, or can it be done using battery power only? It seems crazy to have to walk around and keep plugging in and then unplugging between locations. You should be able to just walk around on battery power only... and watch the signal meter on the top to find the best spot. Please advise as I just got mine and it's unclear how best to do this.21KViews0likes26ComentariosHorrible signal to noise ratio
So my signal to noise ratio is really terrible. So much in fact that my Internet speeds can be 1 to 5 Mbpsif lucky. Looking through my gateway settings as well as the app settings I see that the signal to noise ratio is not where it should be. This is causing the connection to drop or even the modem to rebooton its own. As you can see in the attached screenshots thesignal to noise ratio is really horrible on the primary signal as well as represented on the app but the signal to noise ratio on the secondary signal is actually quite good. Unfortunately that's not being reflected because I'm still getting a terrible connection as I had mentioned. I'm also getting a crazy thing happening where I'm getting locked out of my gateway page(192.168.12.1) but that might be a different problem. Is there any way for the secondary signal to kick over and stay basically making it my primary signal? and by the way this cannot be a heat issue since I have a fan underneath the modem and a fan on top of the modem.5.7KViews1like15ComentariosUpload speeds much faster than download speeds
So I recently switched to T-Mobile Home internet since it advertises good speeds and no data caps. When I first set up the gateway, I was shocked. Speeds were blazing fast. I was consistently getting speeds between 70mbps and 170mbps. This went on for roughly 6 weeks, and then the service became completely unusable. Speeds were consistently below 1mbps and on a good day I could make it into the teens. I called customer support just about every day trying to sort things out, but got nowhere. Ifinally got a call from an engineer who said, "I should expect varying speeds based on my location" and closed out my case. Not a single person can tell me why everything worked so well but then tanked. I then called and had them send me a new gateway device. I set it up and speeds were again in the 60-100 range for about 2 days, and then went back to being unusable. I then started to notice that most tests showed my upload speeds to be significantly higher than my download. I also set up a fan to rule out overheating which has made little to no difference. Today, I decided to see if my signal could be the issue, so I drove to the base of the 5g tower in my city plugged in my gateway with full bars of connectivity and ran a speed test. My results showed my download speed at 2.62mbps and my upload at 59.3 mbps. I ran the test several times over about a 30 minute period on both mine and my wife's phone and got very similar results on every single test. I'm holding out for Starlink and will be abandoning TMobile as soon as possible if they can't resolve this issue, but in the mean time, I would like to know if anyone has any ideas as to why these speeds are so backwards or possibly have suggestions for things I can do to try to fix the issue myself.5.2KViews3likes15ComentariosWfi Sucks
My home internet sucks!!! I wish I would've stayed with the cable company. It's always kicking us in and out of internet connection. We have to unplug it multiple times a day. And if it's raining or snowing it's worst. When I call they always say they're working on the tower but it's been months if this. Not to mention I can't connect my printer to the WiFi so my business is suffering behind this. Does anyone have any solutions to the sucky connection and how to connect to the printer?4KViews8likes17ComentariosA possible solution to speed issues (N71 vs N41)
Some background: My Arcadyan KVD21 gateway became super slow about 3 weeks ago. The config app said that I had good SN, etc, but I was always connecting a slow N71 tower that's a mile or so from my house with clear line-of-sight. Maybe there was an upgrade to this tower or whatever, but when I was originally getting >100 Mbps I was now crawling at a snail's pace. Cellmapper showed another tower on the opposite side of my home, about 3 miles away. No line-of-sight. So I concluded that I need to try to connect to this other tower. Today I located a place in my garage - in front of a window turned 90 degrees away from the tower - and I'm getting N41 with up to 90 Mbps downloads and 30 Mbps uploads! I only hope this continues to work. Hopefully they'llupgrade the N71 tower. My suggestion to those of you who are getting slow speeds is to keep on moving the gateway around and rotating it until you get N41.3.3KViews1like5ComentariosSlow Home Internet
I've been using the home internet service since the beginning of March. It had been working really well, with me getting speeds between 25-100 mbps, which I've been super happy with since I'm in a rural area and it's hard to find internet that works here. However, since the beginning of June, my speeds have been around very inconsistent, but around 1mbps more often than not. Previously when my speeds were that slow, a simple restart would fix it. But I have rebooted/restartedthe device many, many times,as well as trieddoing a factory reset a couple times. Sometimes these things help..for a short period of time. Most of the time they don't change anything.Sometimes, after rebooting/restarting, my speeds will go back to 10-25mbps for anywhere from aminute to a few days, but will then revert back to around 1 mbps.I've also moved the device around my house to see if I got a better signal elsewhere, which also did not help. I thought my device was overheating, so I've been using a fan to cool it, which hasn't seemedto change anythingeither.I contacted T-Mobile support when I first started having issues, but they just sent me the gateway troubleshooting guide with everything I havealready tried, so I don't have a lot of faith in them being able to help me if I contact them again. Does anyonehave any idea why this is happening or know of anything else I can try? I'm just getting frustrated at this point, but don't have a lot of internet options where I live so I want to make this work if I can. Thanks in advance.3.1KViews2likes22Comentariosis there a plug and play external antenna for Sagemcom Fast 5688W Gateway
The assigned cell tower is close about 1 mile, but not a good line of sight (trees, buildings etc.) Debating should I try extenders or mesh to use speeds I have which vary from 24 to 11 download and 5 to 9 upload or look into an antenna. I am worried about trying to open modem and install leads. If I stand on a ladder outside and hold modem up I can get 4 or 5 bars. Only 3 anywhere in house/ I did use the app to locate and have tried a few other things that customer support suggests. I need this to work. I use Zoom for work and medical, can't wait to kick Comcast to the curb, Raised my bill double $125, and will not negotiate.2.5KViews0likes10Comentariosdata speed has frustratingly slowed down. so frustrating
I bought the oneplus nord n10 5g in my local store about 2 weeks ago and started the 60$ unlimited plus pre paid plan and for the first week my data was super fast. It was awesome. For last 5 days its been so slow. Im so irritated. My coverage area is a 5g zone. My phone is 5g. My datas working like slow 3g. And at random times cuts out. And phone will say no internet connection or something like that. Anyone know whats going on?1.9KViews0likes8ComentariosHome internet speeds are unacceptable during the day.
It's been 10 days since I started using T-Mobile Home Internet. I'm located right in downtown Seattle - My connection is considered "Excellent" and I have a direct view of the cell towers from my windows. The towers are less than 1 mile away. And that's why Ireally need to rant about the speeds I'm getting during the day - Just now, I'm slowed to a crawl at 3 mbps for an hour. Then just now, I tested again and it's at 1~ mbps. This seems to happen every other day with varying degrees of severity. I don't have any issues during non-peak hours, but even then I'm only getting 30 mbps MAX. What more can you expect your customers to do here? These speeds are unacceptable during the daytime, which is basically at 3G speeds and it occurs way too often for comfort. Please do something about these speeds or no one is going to stick around, at least I won't be.1.8KViews0likes10ComentariosMy new 5G gateway shows excellent connection but internet speeds are slow.
My new 5G gateway shows excellent connection but internet speeds are slow. i just installed a second t-mobile gateway at a different location. it shows connection quality of very good but speeds are much faster than my original (home) location. What could cause slow speeds when I have an excellent connection status?1.7KViews0likes7Comentarios
