Lagging and throttle

I don't understand why at certain times the internet is great and then by the evening like 5 or 7 pm it gets so slow that we can not watch tv or my son can not play his games online. I do a speed test every night and reset the modem either by unplugging or restart using the T-Mobile app and it helps only for a short while only to go right back into slowing down. They fixed the 2 towers that was down a few months ago and it went well but then it started again. It is getting very annoying to a point where I will cancel this service because it's never steady. This happen starting at 5 pm and then 7 pm which last up to 8 pm and by the speed test I could see how it struggles to keep the speed up but after 10 pm all the way to the morning it runs 300 mbps at 6 am and right now I just did a speed test and it's 42 mbps download speed. I did like the service until all this lagging and slow speed started and getting tired of rebooting and restarting every day. I have friends who are going through the same thing and want to cancel service just as I do so I hope T-Mobile get on the ball and do something before they start losing customers.

  • I understand the peak hours but after they fixed the 2 towers everything was good for a few months and then the issue started again with the slow speed to a 2 mbps and at times .8 mbps and then jumps to 10 mbps struggling to keep some kind of speed. Rebooting helps only for short time like 10 minutes tops. I had Comcast and it was great except for their price going up which is why I went with T-Mobile because they advertised there was no lag and their speed was unbeatable lol yeah up to a certain time. But if I have to go back to Comcast so be it and at least I don't to keep rebooting and restarting 2 to 3 times a day.

  • As a former cell phone engineer if you want to call that sell site I installed the very first five cell sites in the state of Indiana so this was back when it was singular and GT mobile net they slow the stuff down because then you have to use more data if you've noticed over the last five six seven years the data packages have gotten smaller but the price is gone up you exceed a certain data limit and they charge you more money that's the only And I stress the only reason that everything is slowed down has nothing to do with capacity they have far more capacity than they'll ever use right now and I know that for a fact. Not too long ago when data was transferred over the Airways through your cell site your internet provider whatever they compress the data they made the data packets much smaller than they they are now now nothing's compressed oh but it's going to speed your stuff up no it's not it's going to slow it down that's what we'll bog the system down they are no longer compressing data when they transmitted and when you receive it it's not compressed so if they are intentionally slowing everything down for one reason to charge you more money

  • yeah contact TMO. they might be doing more upgrades on the next towers out pushing everyone onto yours. if thats the case it wont level out until they get the other upgrades finished.

They worked on it 3 months ago and it was steady after that but suddenly 5 days ago it went sour and yes I did put it by the window and still same issue. So either they are upgrading or updating I can't say for sure but it is a pain especially if I am watching a football game or golf game I am sure there are others with the same issue. I have friends close by that I told about this service and told me they about to cancel and it makes me feel bad because I convinced them to go T-Mobile. And here's the thing when I called them about the issue that's how they found out that two towers were down, figure that out but anyway they hopped right on it but wow what happened after it was going great only to be disappointed again. I live in Connecticut in Waterbury and really not congested like bigger cities so that has me puzzled.

  • might have to move the unit to a different window area just to make sure that is in fact the best location for it. especially after they did their upgrades...also kind of wondering if theyre still  doing upgrades and or still needing additional upgrades.

how long ago were the towers worked on?

  • capacity issues. you bog down around those times because those are considered peak hours..basically when people are getting off work and whatnot..more people back onto those towers compared to the non peak hours when most of those people are gone.
