T-Mobile 5G Connection Issues causing missed Texts, Calls, and Voicemail - NO DATA!
I just don't understand the disconnect or differences in the 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G wireless generations and why 5G seems to be so different. I never had to second guess what my status bar is indicating. I have had "5G" connection issues on Apple, Samsung, and now Google devices. Random errors like "emergency calls only" or no signal whatsoever. Or full 5G UC access - yet I can dial my phone and watch it not ring or indicate a missed call. I can even send a text message or leave a voicemail and neither ever arrive. Thought this issue was limited to Samsung and Apple. Got a Pixel - same issue - so I think it's the Tech itself and/or the tower but not the devices. Had 5G + on my Pixel 6 - placed a call while out and it rang but left voicemail - nothing. Realized the voicemail didn't pop up - tried again - nothing. Then I got a "missed" call. Yet no ring. When asked, the person said it rang but it was a long delay, and it didn't seem like a regular ring. Not sure why this is but when 5G is enabled, at some point your device "disconnects" from the network and you have no idea you have missed any contact attempts. Turn 5G off? Walla! Issues are gone. Smh Did those two voicemails ever pop up? Nope! Still waiting. Imagine if someone called me during this time, left their dying will on my voicemail and I would not have any clue they called me, let alone that they left a message. Meanwhile my phone shows connected and full 5G access. T-Mobile engineers need to speak on this, and they need to stop this 5G push if it isn't even reliable. NEVER had to ponder if my device is connected or not with LTE. NEVER. I guess I will try 5G when 6G comes out ……….5KViews8likes14ComentariosRe: WHY is 5G connectivity so (Trash) unreliable on the T-Mobile network including their MVNO's?!
The other day, I was waiting at the auto mechanic and overheard a conversation where the customer stated they did not receive notification theirvehicle was ready the previous day(somewhat upset). Theadvisor stated they called them twice and left two voicemails - both parties proceeded to show each other's phones to indicate what they stated was true. I know one had an iPhone and I couldn't tell the other, it had a case so I wasn't sure. The advisor says something, something always has an issue with our phones blasé blah, T-Mobile, something something. I thought about intervening, and ultimately deciding not to. Millions of people use their cellphones everyday. I don't even know where to begin, the extent of this issue is crazy and the fact most people are not even aware is how they are getting away with it. What if that was a call/voicemail/sms from the hospital about a loved one. The severityof this matter seems to go over people's heads and anytime someone brings this up - the way some people dismissit is ridiculous. Never had these issues on older cellular tech - 5G is just not reliable for communication - these missed communications can be ruining people's lives and they dont even know it is happening smh.... On my business device with dual SIM (primary SIM 5G on data preferred, second SIM 5G off voice smspreferred) - I got an OTP from bank, it did not come, I wait, nothing, I go into settings - disable 5G, the text came through instantly. Unacceptable.14Visto1like0ComentariosWHY is 5G connectivity so (Trash) unreliable on the T-Mobile network including their MVNO’s?!
I was making some updates to my device layouts and when testing the PTN associated with my tablet from another number, I noticed the text did not arrive. I double checked the number. I remembered then that I had 5G enabled on the device since it is primarily used for data only and tried an additional text. Still not delivered. The device had been "idle" on Wi-Fi, so the connection essentially "timed out" unbeknownst to me. I restarted the tablet, and the texts sent several minutes before came right through. I bust out laughing in frustration… Note: After X amount of time if your "data connection"(uplink to network) is not "refreshed"(Restart device, Toggle Airplane Mode, Place a Call, Use data on your end) then that communication sent to your device (voice/SMS/MMS/voicemail/data) will NOT be delivered to your device. I sent texts and left voicemails that never made there way to my device. Do I need to spell out the disaster this is - and the sad part is most people are not tech savvy, corporate shills, and/or iPhone users and have no idea this is happening. (The audacity to try and raise prices…) This issue has persisted for several years at this point; I first noticed the problems around the ~ S20 FE. Since this time a plethora of videos and posts both knowingly and unknowingly have been shared regarding the matter. The Issue: If you have 5G enabled on any device you will intermittently loose connection with the network/tower by way of transmission with voice/SMS/MMS/voicemail/data not being delivered to your device; often times unbeknownst to you(signal will show connected - other times SOS emergency calls only may appear). *This is not attributed to known technical limitations that have existed since cellular technology was introduced(signal interference, building materials, congestion, location, time of year, phone case, user error, device software/hardware(known bugs), etcetera) *These issues NEVER happened with prior generations of cellular technology. I never had to guess whether or not my device was connected, the signal software could be trusted, moreover, I never had to worry about the receipt of voice/SMS/MMS/Voicemail being delivered to my device, even when "off network"(roaming) a voicemail still would delver once the device reconnected to the network. *iPhone users mostly communicate with other iPhone users(blue bubble). iMessage works on a data connection (Wi-Fi or Mobile data). iPhone is not using SMS/MMS the same way Android users do. Cellphone users spend less time talking (voice) and more time texting(iMessage/Facetime; SMS/MMS; Other apps). "I called you" "I texted you" "911" "I called to offer you the job" "The hospital called so and so has been hurt" "I left you a voicemail before I took my last breath" just a few scenarios you won't even know took place because A) it never made it to your device B) people will assume you didn't answer/respond. Ignoring them, etcetera. I saw similar complaints on other carriers, so I don't believe it to be specific to T-Mobile's network, however, I haven't researched enough to know if it's a technology issue with 5G in general or specific to Magenta. Point being, it should not be happening. The current fix I have found for reliable voice/SMS/MMS/voicemail is to disable 5G on my cellular phones, and only use 5G on my data specific devices since getting SMS/MMS on them isn't my main use for them. I just thought it was funny to see the issue is STILL present. I've ran tests in multiple locations over different time periods. This isn't a SIM card issue. Unsure if it is hardware related at the SOC level/5G but again, the same SOC does not have these issues with 5G turned off. Somehow the devices are losing connection/timing out/idle when 5G is enabled causing the lack of transmission of voice/SMS/MMS/voicemails and needs to "reconnects" before these transmissions are delivered to your device. The issue is if you are unaware of this, you don't know it is happening. Don't let people gaslight you. I raised this issue internally directly as an internal customer, and externally as an external customer - Management is aware. Engineers are aware. I'm sure there are more technical jargon to explain why the packets are not being sent to the device and why it only sends with a connection "reboot".251Visto1like4ComentariosT-Mobile Home Internet & GlobalProtect VPN | Resolución
If you have a VPN issue, specifically GlobalProtect, I think I found a fix that has been working for me with T-Mobile Home Internet. Tldr; Set your T-Mobile Home Internet Wi-Fi Network name to automatically connect (so it connects when you turn on your PC) and under properties change the Network profile from Public to Private - viola. GlobalProtect VPN now works for me, so I can now assess whether I will keep Comcast or T-Mobile. Decisions lol Background: My current provider was Comcast and my rate is $50 with "Promo", ebill, and Autopay for their Blast! Service. I use my own equipment (Moto modem, eero Wi-Fi 6 router) - no issues. The agony/anxiety of having to call them every year when your promo ends and your bill goes up, you threaten to leave, they say they have the same price but for lower speeds, you don't accept, then eventually they keep you at the same rate and speed - after several years of this same rodeo it is annoying. Present: It's my 3rd day of having T-Mobile Home Internet. With Comcast I was getting anywhere from 200 -300 Mbps. I get the same or better speeds with T-Mobile, hitting as high as 465 Mbps and 30 on Upload. In short, the speeds at their lowest thus far, have been the same or better. I appear to be on Band 66 which gets me the best speeds in my location and Band 2 still fast but I do see a speed decrease. Unsure if/how the Primary/Secondary connection are at play and if I'm taking advantage of 5G. The first evening was cool, until the next morning I tried to connect to my work VPN and couldn't. When I called that second day, the rep opened a ticket to backdate my software to .0168 stating this was a temp fix for VPN issues - well later that day I noticed the firmware version dropped - so I tested with Ethernet cord and it still did not work. I tried 3 resets, rebooting and searching online for self-service to update my firmware - no dice- faux pas - had to call back in to request they update to latest firmware as speeds were still good but I noticed a difference in the firmware versions. At this time, still waiting for the "push" smh to go back to .0178. In the past, with Comcast, I did not want to run an Ethernet cord so I would use my Wi-Fi seldomly- I could always connect to the VPN but if I could access the sites was hit or miss, then magically I plug in the dumb Ethernet cord and it works. So, I did the same with T-Mobile, read all the forum thread post on possible causes and fixes. Well accessing the MTU or Ports or whatever else is not something I could do, nor do I think it should even be this difficult between IpV6 and 4 - if 6 is the future then let it be! Anyways, so I was contemplating a return because if I can't use the VPN whose gonna pay my bill? Based on what I have read, unsure if it's the VPN provider, your companies own IT limitations protocols, the type of Internet connection required for the VPN to function, it seems like all are valid depending on your VPN, settings, and the ISP provider. So anyways, I really would love to have 1 bill and get rid of Comcast. So, because of the error or patch issue I would get if I turn on my work PC and it is not connected to an Internet source (Ethernet or Wi-Fi) it gives an error. I used to manually connect to Wi-Fi because when we changed VPN's it was hit or miss, so I changed it to Automatic connect to network. GlobalConnect logs in but I can't access data or my work sites, or even Google.com, I can open Outlook though lol -so I had an epiphany. I changed the setting, so it connects automatically AND I went into properties under the network name and changed the Network profile from Public to Private - then magically everything worked just fine! Smh - so is this the missing link with GlobalProtect VPN? Or my companies IT protocol for Wi-Fi? Either way 3 reboots later, I've tested, and all is well, so glad I don't potentially have to cancel T-Mobile Home Internet, or run an Ethernet cord in my home just to work - will continue to test. Now My Comcast ping ~10, with T-Mobile its ~25-45 - not a gamer so it doesn't concern me. I noticed when I do a speedtest on my work PC connected to VPN(via Wi-Fi of course) the ping was 54 and Dl was ~60-75 Mpbs - versus my personal PC on the same network was 27 ping and 399 - 465 Mbps down LOL . I have not and will not try Ethernet with the VPN anymore as Wi-Fi seems to be working and my work space is neat like I like it…6.8KViews1like13ComentariosRe: Price Lock
I'm surprised I havent read from the comments how funny it is: Of course I know it wasn't a true restriction, after all its a man made program; **however**, isn't it convenient for years T-Mobile told customers those plans had restrictions, line caps that could not be changed, saying they couldn't make changes to the plan and you would have to switch plans to add more lines..... Yet, they are able to raise price as it fits them... Comical and pathetic. Self imposed limitations....3Visto1like0ComentariosWebsite is not accepting Trade-in Devices with a Zero Dollar Fair-Market Value (Self-Service) or Crediting the DCC Charge
I wanted to take advantage of the Smartphone Trade 240039 P669 online via self-service. Also because it was waiving the activiation cost. I tried over 10 devices, and 4 different device upgrade workflows and none would work on any promotion if the trade-in device has a $0 fair-market value. The process issuccessful if the device you are trading in, has a trade-in fair-market value of $5 or greater, which is the lowest I have seen it. I know it is a bug because this didn't used to be an issue in the past(trading in any device, even if the trade-in value was $0). This increases customer contact(unecessiarily). Instigates a store visit to complete the upgrade which subjects the customer to cramming and other liabilites associated with in-store transactions. While I have you, why can't business customers ship to store/store pick-up like consumer accounts? Improve self-service: Provide us the option to add a "down payment" towards any amount we want to finance on EIP. Why stores are only allowed to do this annoying. Why stores are ony allowedto apply the fair-market value of your trade-in towards your EIP finance amount is another pain point. I don't want some random dollar amount or change on my bill if I can control what I Am financing or paying the better, I hate random weird bill amounts. For example, the device is $168, they will give you a $5 "bill credit" well 168/7 is 24 months; 163/24 is an ugly number and just stupid - just put the $5 towards the EIP or just keep the $5 and make it a simple even number - at least give us this flexibility if we are that detailed about or finances and billing. I really don't understand why it seems like they are against self-service, yet complain about customer contact and hold Agents to unreasonable NCI/NPI or whatever the 'metric' is.Re: T-Mobile ONE "Un-Contract" Price Lock Guarantee | "Re" Carrier - June 2024 Increase Price Increase
