I mainly come here to complain, but also to seek solutions, so I appreciate people like you who are willing to share yourtechnical knowledge with us to help find such solutions. Internet delivered via cell signal does seem to have more complications that the end user must seek out the cause and solution to than my previous cable internet, but I'm willing to put in the work if I only know what I should do. My previous cable internet still tries to lure me back with much lower prices than I'm paying now, but like you, I am turned off by all the small print that adds fees here and there and then requires you to call back each year to beg them to extend the good prices or else they go much higher than the simple price I'm paying now. If I can just get the service to work acceptably 90% of the time, I'm willing to keep it to keep from going back to cable internet and their own version of outages, plus creeping prices.30Visto1like0ComentariosRe: Home Internet Overheating
Thanks for the advice and fan options. I was willing to try anything to be able to keep the T-mobile service, and not go crawling back to my cable internet provider, so I bought the $20 two-fan combo from Amazon and used a stand I got for $2.45 on clearance from Monoprice, that was made to hold an Amazon Echo, but makes a great platform for the Gateway device, and put on fan on top and one on the bottom, with plenty of air space underneath and above. I did all that on 1/20 and now it's 2/2, so it's been nearly two weeks, and Ihaven't had any internet outages, or slow-downs as I was having before, so I hope this will continue. I don't know if it's the fans, or the "working on the nearby tower" that I was told by customer service that is being completed, but I will take all the help I can get.18Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Internet Gateway DHCP/DNS Address Settings
I haven't bothered with the network settings up until now, because I had no problems, but…Today my desktop could NOT connect to several sites and they all showed a version of the "Your connection is not private" or "Can't establish a secure connection to the server" error. It was mostly on sites like Facebook, Twitter, etc., but I knew all those certificates were not expired or forged, and I had no problem on my tablet or phone, just my desktop, and it was on every browser I tried: Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Opera. I deleted caches and cookies and even dumped DNS caches using Terminal, restarted the computer, and the problem persisted. I then went into the network settings and changed from my custom settings to just "Automatic". I don't know if that is what eventually worked, or the other things I did in tandem, but now I see some things I would like some clarity on: I see now my OpenDNS IP addresses have been changed from208.67.222.222 · 208.67.220.220, to what seem to be the device settings of: 192.168.12.1 and some long MAC address starting with 2607:fbxxxxxxx, etc. Should I try to go back to my OpenDNS settings, or leave this like it is? Also, I see that the "Configure IPv6" is now set to "automatically" and before it was set to "Link-local only" Any advice as to what the preferred settings are for these and any other settings in the Network Preferences with this T-Mobile Home Internet gateway?72Visto1like0ComentariosRe: Suddenly slow home internet.
I got this gateway on January 5th and it was slow at first, but then jumped up to 120Mbps, so I thought I may be able to finally cancel my $60/month 200Mbps cable internet, and called them to do so. They offered me another year of $45/month 200M, but I persisted and then they offered me a year of $35/month 100Mbps speeds, but I already had this device and felt committed so I am returning their modem tomorrow and my service with them ends on the 20th. NOW, however, my internet just went out completely last night, and repeated unpluggings of the gateway did not work, and the final one did, but speed was 1Mbps. I called and talked to someone and they diagnosed it from afar, and then had me turn it back on and test the speed, and it was now 106Mbps. They claimed I was on a problematic tower that they knew about, and he was now "locking" me into the better one, and this shouldn't happen again. I got on this morning, and speed was back down to 1Mbps and even 0.26Mbps!! I don't know what to do, my wife and I both work at home, and need consistent, reliable internet. I don't now know if I should call back my cable internet company and tell them I will take them up on their offer after all, and send this T-Mobile device back, or stick with it and try to glean some tips from this forum, but I don't know if it's worth it. I just got the home internet gateway and have been using the app, but found there is also a much more versatile web interface athttp://192.168.12.1/in my browser. I found I have to log in to manage the 2.4 and 5GHz networks, but I didn't know which credentials to use. I tried the default admin/admin, but thought that may not work, as I was already made to change the default admin password in the app when I set up the device SSID. I did not, however know what it wanted for "username" and tried admin, but that didn't work. Tried my email from my T-mobile ID, but that didn't work. Tried the phone number assigned to my gateway device, but that was rejected. Now I get the message: "web ui locked" due to all the failed login attempts. Can anyone tell me what it is looking for in terms of username/password, so I can finally log into it?Solved72KViews0likes15Comentarios
