Re: OK to leave gateway powered ON all the time?

I have a simple question about extending the life of the unit as much as possible. Is it better to leave the gateway powered up 24/7 or is it better to turn it off at night when we are not using it? The unit gets a little warm (not hot) when running, so I'm wondering if turning it off at night and letting it "rest" might extend its life. Or is it better to avoid cycling it on and off each day? Just curious what other users are doing. Thanx for any advice! Please got take older gateway in to store and exchange for the brand new Arcadian G4AR gateway instead. New gateway has cooling fan and runs cooler. And as retired electrician I can say tech stuff last way longer by actually leaving electronics run 24/7. If you want to research it, our federal government and consumer reports have done big articles on the durability of new electronics, turning off or leaving on and in the long run. All the study showed that leaving the electronics on actually cause those electronics to last twice as long as the ones that were turned on and off. I know there's going to be people that disagree and say you use more electricity but it's a. It's a small gateway that draws minimum wattage so you're talking pennies a month Please just to your gateway now and take to store to exchange for Brand new white G4AR gateway. Way faster router and has twice the transmitter power. Also make sure you set it up with separate WiFi bands. 5hz and 2.5hz. Then put any cameras or printers on only the 2.5. Even new printers still run WPA But printers only run on 2.5.. . Make up some B's story to make them exchange for new router. Plus new router has built in cooling fan and never runs hot. You', lol love the new routers way better12Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: My Brother HL-L2360D printer prints intermittently

When I switched to T-Mobile internet I connected it to the network and everything looked good. The printer still shows up in my Mac's list of available printers. But frequently the printer won't wake-up to start a print job. It seems I have to use the printer's network set-up wizard almost every day to reconnect the printer to the network. How can I fix this? Turn your security set to WPA instead of WPA2/WPA2 like T-Mobile factory sets gateways. Then be sure to completely restart the gateway after saving change. Printers only work reliable on WPA security setting Do you also have your 2 different internet 5hz and 2.5hz ?? You need to separate them in resetting up both separate channels. Printers can't connect to 5hz. So you need to reset your router and split those two. Then connect printer to your new 2.5hz. When you switch off the two bands the gateway won't also try changing it's channels too. Which can give printer bad performance.18Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: My Brother HL-L2360D printer prints intermittently

I have a feeling you have one of the older ones. Go take your gateway to a store and exchange for a brand new Arcadian G4AR gateway instead. If they give you grief of changing gateways. Make up store it kicks off line all the time. That is excuse enough to exchange. New gateways are a 100% better. Way stronger wifi and cellular antennas inside it. Plus you can add a outside mimo antennas. If you can't get a new gateway. Tell them you want to end your service then on home internet. Then turn around and go to a different store or walk outside and walk back in and say I want to get the new home internet. Seriously, good managers of stores will tell you this. Hope this helps you. But old gateways were famous for slight glitch in transmitting. Which things like printers can't handle. Now for printer going to sleep. That is typically in your printers energy saving mode. You can always go by printer before starting and just tap any key on screen which will take it out of energy savings mode for a few hours too. Everyone have yourselves a fantastic day.19Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: OK to leave gateway powered ON all the time?

I always get the same message that the settings (on the thermostat's network) have been successfully configured but the wifi module has lost the connection. Any other thoughts? Go change security setting from factory WPA2/WPA2 to only WPA. Then restart the gateway and wait 5 minutes. You then should be able to get it to connect easily35Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Connect Brother DCP-L2540DW printer to tmobile Home WiFi

Go change security setting to only WPA only. Printers can't connect with T-Mobile factory settings. Happy printing hopefully.48Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: My Brother HL-L2360D printer prints intermittently
