Re: Poor service in and around Wichita,Ks.
Where are you located? I am in Andover and have had the service for over a year. It was rocky at first but got better over time. I had issues a couple months ago while the tower was being upgraded but that lasted for a month and now I'm back to my 500+ download speeds.4Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Public IP Changes
I think T-Mobile may have done something about this. My connection has finally been stable enough to surpass 14 days. I'm less than an hour short of hitting 16 days actually. My public IP has not changed the whole time. This is a nice change. ¡Gracias T-Mobile!3Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: Home Internet router loses connection about every 5 days
Ralphy wrote: Hi, As I see it, I don't believe this to be an issue related to overheating. I have rebooted the trashcan twice in 15 days (8 days and7 days uptime respectively). My gateway does not do WiFi in my network;Iturned that feature off. The only device that connects to the trashcan is my netgate (pfsense) router. I don't know if there is a way to read trashcan logs because there are none available in its GUIbut I can tell you for sure that it simply "goes stupid" as in it stops passing any traffic through; the"fix" is to manually reboot the gateway. Currently on software version 1.2101.00.1609 which seems to be the latest stable publicly available. Generally speaking (and this is pure speculation as I don't have logs from the gateway) a reboot is not a way to correct overheating.Besides, in my personal case, the trashcan sits in a room with controlled temps/humidity and it doesn't even get warm to the touch. If I were to pull one out of the hat I'd say it is firmware related such as failure to monitor and/or restart a service to keep the connectivity in check and alive; or perhaps failure to renew its IP from DHCP. Then again, this is speaking out of completeignorance as I don't have any access to its logs for troubleshooting. When it goes stupid I can actually still access the web interface to reboot the gateway and I can see it showing as connected to the tower, etc. It just won't pass any traffic whatsoever until it is rebooted. What really gets in my nerves is the fact that one must manually reboot the gateway but you can't do that F*****G away from home. I "don't mind"T-Mobile having to lock down thegateway features but this is not a new/unknown problem for these trashcan. Having said that,T-Mobile not providing an option to schedule reboots to at least allow users to reboot their Inferior, suboptimal GARBAGE gateway on schedule is beyond my comprehension. A cron daemon is less that 200k in size and uses almost no resources. It is 2021; fix your stupidity T-Mobile! You're describing my symptoms almost exactly and adding a fan fixed it. I would go several days, maybe even a week, and then it would stop passing traffic. What I found out later is that it was still passing traffic but very very slow. Pings were intermittent but they got through. My modem was never hot to the touch and I was not using the built-in wi-fi. And the room it was in was cool. The overheating is very isolated but a very real issue. It probably also depends on signal strength and how hard your modem has to work to keep the connection going.4Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: T-Mobile Home dropping Internet
I've not really had any freeze up issues since adding my fans. More recently I've been documenting small rotations when I do need to reboot in order to improve my reception. My current angle has kept me on n41 for 9.5 days now which is great. However, I am still on software1.2003.03.0178. If I start having problems when my update gets pushed out I will definitely post about it.3Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: T-Mobile Home dropping Internet
Here's a recent success story that involved adding a fan. https://community.t-mobile.com/tv-home-internet-7/i-was-skeptical-but-a-fan-does-seem-to-help-37614 With your drops happening during a specific time period every day I can see it potentially being related to network congestion. But also since it's towards the end of the day I could see it being a build-up of heat and maybe the modem having to fight harder for its signal to get back to the tower. If it's a congestion issue, there's probably not much you can do. If it's an overheating issue, then a cheap fan could be the answer.5Visto0likes0ComentariosRe: T-Mobile Home dropping Internet
I actually recommend the overheating issue on the forums a lot and I am not affiliated with T-Mobile. I've never heard of T-Mobile acknowledging an overheating issue. The overheating issue is also not usually detectable by touch and it's not helped by a cooler room. Although I've suggested adding a fan on several posts, I've only heard a couple follow-up posts that followed through and they were successful.8Visto1like0Comentarios
