T-mobile gateway with seperate router
I'm just starting out on T-Mobile home internet but didn't want to stop using my Asus Router which is set up nicely already to handle everything in this household (both wifi and ethernet). Here's what I did to avoid any problems. I hooked my Router's WAN port (which use to go to my cable modem) to one of the two ethernet ports on the back of the T-Mobile Gateway. To avoid double NAT and other problems, I went to Administration on my Asus RT-AX82U and changed it from Wireless Router to Access Point. I made sure to download the Device Discovery Utility linked under Access Point before saving the change so I could get the Router IP address to log into it after the Router reboots. Then just type the new IP into the browser to continue managing the Router. I hope this helps anyone that simply wants to keep using their Router and it's setup with the T-Mobile Gateway. I can't totally disable the wifi in the T-Mobile Gateway (mine is the Sagemcom), but I switched it to 5Ghz only in the Tmobile app to cut down on any interference (which hasn't been a problem anyway) and still only use the WiFi from my Asus Router.Access OpenVPN server behind T-mobile Home Internet
Currently, I am testing T-Mobile 5G Home Internet. Here is what I found while I am doing testing: 1. CG-NAT, I am getting 192.168.12 IP on my router WAN 2. NAT444, NAT after NAT, even whatismyip.com gives me a public ip which is the tower public ip, not my modem/gateway Ip. 3. On my Asus router, I turn on IPv6, so I have a public IPv6 My setup: 1. Internet <-> T-Mobile (modem/gateway 192.168.12.) <-> Asus router (192.168.1.0/24) 2. I have Ipv6 on my router, which is a public 2607:fb91:82ae:1493 3. I have OpenVPN server setup on the router. (I tested by access 192.168.12.x from my internal network which works, but it doesn't work when I use the public IPv6 Ip) 4. I have firewall disabled to make sure things work first Goals: 1. I can access my internal network from a public location, so I can get files on my harddrive (attach to the router USB port) 2. Access other web which has region check and I was oversea Questions: 1. How may I OpenVPN into my router from public so I can access my network resource? 2. Any other suggestions?
New ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip has terrible service (-100 dBm), any solutions?
So I recently picked up a Zenfone 8 flip and have been trying to use it in the US. I'm in the middle of Philadelphia where the coverage map is great, but have had terrible service with calls constantly distorted or dropping and a signal strength usually worse than-100 dBm. Any ideas on what could be done to make it at least somewhat usable so I'm not out $600?
inseego FW2000e and Asus router NO INTERNET
This home internet has been a disaster from the start. Someone please explain this to me: Internet dropped again tonight. Rebooted inseego. Nothing. Unplugged wan from router and into computer directly. Rebooted Inseego. Nothing. Went into Inseego settings and changed from 5G/LTE to force only LTE. I have strong LTE internet on the computer. BUT when I unplug the wan from the computer back into the router and reboot everything? No internet. Router tells me DHCP not functioning properly from ISP. Why is this? How do I fix it? What can I do/try? thanks
Asus Zenphone 8 problems on Tmobile?
I purchased four Asus Zenphone 8 phones this last Christmas. The compatibility checker shows they are fully compatible with the Tmobile network, but my family has nonstop dropped calls in the three different metro areas where we spend most of our time (Denver, Fort Collins, Cheyenne). Additionally, the receiving phone will often not ring, especially when at home, and even when there is plenty of signal. I am at a loss and very close to quitting my nine year relationship with Tmobile.
